Sgarbossa has seen time with both the Bears and the Capitals in 2024-25

The Washington Capitals have reassigned forward Michael Sgarbossa to the Hershey Bears, the team announced Monday.

Sgarbossa, a product of Campbellville, Ont., has split time between the AHL and NHL this season, going pointless in two games with Washington and collecting nine points in seven games with the Bears.

Having turned pro in 2012, Sgarbossa has played for the Colorado Avalanche, Anaheim Ducks, Florida Panthers, and the Capitals. Through 92 career NHL regular season games, he has put up eight goals and 23 points.

Although he has spent more time in the AHL throughout his tenure in the Capitals organization, Sgarbossa has proven to be a reliable depth player. Capable of producing when inserted into the lineup and a top of the line AHL player, Sgarbossa will only prove his value more if the Capitals are hit with injuries later in the season.
