Golden Moments: Jack Woolley Engaged Just Hours After RTÉ Dancing with the Stars Finale trucc

Olympian Jack Woolley has announced his engagement to his boyfriend, just hours after the taekwondo star performed in the final of Dancing with the Stars.

The 26-year-old and his fiancé Dave Stig have been in a relationship since 2021, with Woolley sharing a photo of the pair – and his engagement ring – on social media today.

He marked the date with the simple caption: “17/03/2025”.

Woolley finished in the final four of the latest season of Dancing with the Stars, making it to the end of the competition alongside fellow Olympian Rhys McClenaghan, social media star Kayleigh Trappe and Mrs Brown’s Boys actor Danny O’Carroll.

Reacting to the news of his engagement on social media, his professional dance partner Alex Vladimirov commented: “Screaming crying. Two most beautiful people on earth.”

McClenaghan, who won an Olympic gold on the pommel horse in Paris last summer, lifted the glitterball trophy during the final on Sunday night.

At the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, Woolley became the first-ever athlete to represent Ireland in taekwondo at the Games. He was knocked out in the round of 16 in Tokyo, while in Paris last year he placed seventh and earned an Olympic diploma.

During his time on the show, he was open about an attack he endured in Dublin just five days after the Summer 2020 Olympics came to a close.

He was set on in Dublin by eight attackers and was hospitalised with serious injuries and received stitches to his face.

Woolley said he was self-conscious about the scar on his lip as a result of the incident and was looking into getting plastic surgery to have it corrected.

However, his time on Dancing with the Stars changed his mind.

"But seeing myself smiling on TV and with my confidence back. I think the lip makes me, me. And I wanted to keep it,” Woolley said.

His partner Dave was inspired to join An Garda Síochána as a result of the incident and is to go through its training college in Templemore this year.

"It inspired him to go into the guards and try and get justice for other people who may be in the same situation. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a follow-up from the guards. I had only met them once. The people weren’t caught."
