Washington Capitals Reveal Stunning 50th Anniversary Cherry Blossom Jerseys Just in Time for Peak Bloom trucc

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — With the countdown to the bloom of Washington, D.C.’s beloved cherry blossoms in full swing, the Washington Capitals unveiled a special jersey Tuesday to ring in the iconic pink flowers and celebrate the team’s 50th anniversary.

As part of the celebration and the return of the team’s retro jerseys, the unveiled cherry blossom jerseys, set to be auctioned off later this month, feature the Screaming Eagle grabbing a cherry blossom branch and a color scheme to match the petals.

The design continues into the jersey’s numbering, which depicts full-color blossoms and stems. In addition, the shoulders feature the team’s 50th-anniversary patch in pink, with more blossoms.

The specialty jersey, designed by D.C.-based artist Taylor Kampa Olson of TKOPaintings, will be autographed and auctioned off, along with signed pucks.

The auction will kick off online on March 18 at noon and run through 3 p.m. on March 28. Proceeds will benefit the Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation.

In addition to the jerseys, a wide variety of cherry blossom-themed merchandise, including apparel, headwear and accessories, is now available at the Team Store at Capital One Arena and the Team Store at MedStar Capitals Iceplex. Replica jerseys are also available at each store.
