Golf has been a major part of the Washington Capitals’ four-day team-building trip in Columbus. And now so has soccer.
Wednesday night, 16 different Capitals players attended the Columbus Crew vs. Inter Miami CF game at Lower.com Field.
The Caps took a photo on the field after the game, holding up a Columbus Crew checker flag.
The players on the top row, from left to right, are Ethan Bear, Jakub Vrana, Matt Roy, Martin Fehervary, Nic Dowd, Dylan McIlrath, Tom Wilson, Pierre-Luc Dubois, Andrew Mangiapane, Sonny Milano, Hendrix Lapierre, and Rasmus Sandin.
The bottom row features Brandon Duhaime, Taylor Raddysh, Connor McMichael, and Andrew Cristall.
The Caps witnessed an entertaining game as legendary Argentinian striker and Alex Ovechkin favorite, Lionel Messi, scored twice in the first half — at the 45th minute and the fifth minute of injury time — to help lead Inter Miami to a 3-2 victory.
Messi, in his second season in MLS, has 17 goals and 15 assists in 17 games.
Inter Miami was presented with the Supporter’s Shield after the game as the MLS team with the best regular season record.
The Capitals’ final day in Columbus is Thursday. They will then return home and begin practicing again at MedStar Capitals Iceplex ahead of their final preseason game on Saturday night.
