Let's be honest, we've all watched an episode of TOWIE and thought 'get me on that show' - right?

Well as a luck would have it, Junaid Ahmed has spilled the tea on applying for the show and he's even lifted the lid on his audition years ago.

‘You’ll never believe it but I used to be a bank manager. I used to work in the city in glam [make-up]. I absolutely loved my job but I sat there one day in the office and I was looking out the window in central London and was thinking, “I’m destined for more than this.”

‘I knew I was a star in the making. When I was five years old I was dancing to Britney,' he joked on the Spill with Will podcast.

'I worked so hard to get into the position I was in the bank and was like this, "This is great and I’m on good money" but I thought, this isn’t what I really want to do.'

And as it turns out, it was after Junaid appeared on Amazon's reality TV show Lovestruck High that he 'got a call from TOWIE'.

‘I came back from Lovestruck and four weeks later I got a call from TOWIE. I met the TOWIE execs, a week later I was in the Dominican Republic filming series 30.’

But it turns out this wasn't Junaid's first meeting with TOWIE producers, in fact he actually auditioned for the show during his teenage years.

‘There’s no audition [now but] when I was 18 years old I lived in Peterborough - nowhere near Essex - but my friends at the time [aka Girlband] were on TOWIE and the show was holding opening auditions,' he explained.

’So little old me got the train to Essex and then turned up at the open auditions at TOWIE and they were like, “Oh my God we love you, you’ve got two friends on the show already” and I was like, “Yay! It’s working it’s going to happen”.

‘But they were like, "Oh you’re not from Essex" and I was like, "No but I’ll move here…" but obviously it didn’t work and it wasn’t meant to be at the time.’

He continued, ‘Then I got another call when I was 24 and they were like, ‘Hey, would you come and meet us again?’ and I was like, ‘Yeah, of course’ but it’s who you know on the show.

‘The whole show concept is Essex people in a friendship group. You have to fit into the group and have friends in the group.’
