Wynne Evans has said he has been 'given strength' after a former Strictly Come Dancing star spoke out in support of him after his emotional first TV appearance since being embroiled in a show scandal.
Those who follow the BBC One dance contest will be aware that the opera singer took part in the show last year alongside professional dancer Katya Jones.
It was while competing in the popular dance programme in October time that the pair found themselves embroiled in a Strictly storm, when during a live show, Wynne was seen moving his hand over her waist, which she then moved.
During the same episode, Katya also appeared to refuse a high five from him but the pair later stated that they had been 'joking,' with them apologising over the situation.
It was then earlier this year that Wynne was removed from the Strictly Come Dancing Live tour after he issued an apology saying that he used "inappropriate language" during the launch of the string of arena shows.
The apology came after the Mail On Sunday reported in January that he aimed a sexual joke at It Takes Two presenter and the tour's host, Janette Manrara.
However, he has since claimed the story was taken out of context and that he was talking to fellow contestant, EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick.
Earlier this week, Wynne appeared on This Morning where he gave his version of events for the first time in a TV interview, in which he became emotional as he recalled the controversy around his time in Strictly saying it took him into the “darkest spot” of his life.
Since the interview, former Strictly pro dancer James Jordan has publicly come out in support of Wynne. The 47-year-old weighed in to say he was ‘deeply moved’ by his appearance on This Morning, in which he detailed how the scandal took him ‘to the darkest spot of his life’.
James, who danced on the show between 2006 and 2013, went on to defend Wynne's controversial comments, labelling them ‘clearly light-hearted or part of mutual banter’ in a lengthy Instagram post.
Now, Wynne has shared his own message following James' support. He said: "A huge thank you to James Jordan for speaking up and showing his support - it really does mean the world.
"The last few months have been incredibly tough. Many so-called 'celebrity friends' have stepped back from being friends, afraid of media retribution. I fully understand this, even though of course it's disappointing - but that's the world we live in."
Alongside the typed-out posts, Wynne wrote to his followers: "Thanks you so much @jamesjordan1978 you’ve given me strength."
