FORMER Towie star James Argent has been supporting Freddy Brazier amid concerns for this welfare.

Arg, 37, has been good friends with Freddy, 20, and his brother Bobby over the years and in recent weeks has become a real rock for the family - offering his advice and home as a sanctuary.

Freddy’s TV presenter dad Jeff has made the tough decision to launch legal proceedings to stop the youngster from seeing his maternal grandmother Jackiey Budden.

Jack Tweed, who was married to their mum Jade Goody, has now revealed how Arg has stepped up after overcoming his own issues, including an addiction battle.

He told us: “He’s friends with Arg, he was around his the other day and Arg likes helping people, so he gave me a call and said Freddy is not in the best places,so I spoke to him for a good few hours then.”

Talking about Arg, Jack, 37, said: “He's a good geezer. He's always ringing me checking up.”

Explaining why he is such a good influence for Freddy,  Jack continued: “I helped him with his addiction,  but luckily, good for him, he's on the right path now and he's doing really well for himself.

“He's probably a good person to talk to if you're in a bad situation because he's been through everything and come out stronger the other side.”

Arg has been very open his addiction and in 2020 he opened up on suffering two near-fatal overdoses at home.

James  has admitted to being a heavy cocaine user for seven years, sparking fears among his loved ones that he could be the next celebrity to die.

He has been sober for a number of years and has lots over 14 stone after a complete life overhaul.

Last week The Sun told how Jeff has hired a leading barrister for the upcoming hearing to prevent Freddy from seeing Jade’s mum.

During last year’s BBC show Celebrity Race Across The World Freddy spoke openly about his challenges with mental health and his relationship with his father who brought him up since losing Mum in 2009.

He said of his relationship with his Dad on the programme: “At times where I’ve pushed him away he has pulled even harder to pull me back in.

“I don’t think I praise my dad enough for everything he has done for me but he knows the love.”

Freddy, who lives with bi-polar and ADHD - regularly stays with gran Jackiey in South East London and has posted a video on TikTok of himself openly taking drugs at her flat in Bermondsey.

Recently Freddy also posted a video of her making a foul mouthed rant at him where she is quoted as saying; ‘’Do you hear me? Don’t f***ing do it no more, don’t Fred, Please don’t. Don’t f***ing talk to me like you talk outside, if that’s the case f*** off. Yeah f*** off.’’
