The Chase returned for a festive celebrity special and some viewers were left 'really annoyed' after the team took home a huge £200,000
ITV's hit quiz show The Chase graced our screens with a festive celebrity edition. Host Bradley Walsh was in high spirits as he introduced Jenni Falconer, Lesley Joseph, Judge Jules, and Patrick Kielty, all hoping to win big for their chosen charities. Shaun "The Dark Destroyer" Wallace played the role of tonight's canny chaser, challenging the celebrity contestants to outwit him in the game. But Jenni, Lesley, and Judge Jules delivered impeccable games, securing a collective £21,000 for the final chase.
Patrick stepped up as the last celebrity to face the cash builder, exhibiting commendable courage by choosing the riskier high offer - a whopping £179,000. Displaying skill and savvy, Patrick beat Shaun with ease, boosting the team's fund to £200,000, equating to a generous £50,000 per charity when shared equally. With tension mounting, the four stars were poised to challenge the chaser in an adrenaline-fueled finale.
With 20 successful answers and a series of shrewd pushbacks, the celebrities edged over the line to claim victory against Shaun. While the celebs rejoiced in their triumphant win, some fans expressed cynicism about the game's integrity, reports the Liverpool Echo. Twitter user Sianbob commented: "It really annoys me how many questions the chasers throw when it comes to the charity shows. We all know you are not that dumb guys, come off it."
Meanwhile, Dr Jan opined: "The chaser is so clearly letting them win its not even funny", while Andrew T critiqued: "These questions are so easy." Essexbird raised a query about the show's difficulty, tweeting: "I love #TheChase but why are the questions on the celebrity episode so much easier than the general public episodes? My husband just said 'if I can answer them all there's something wrong'."
However, some viewers applauded the significant charitable donation. Flynny expressed excitement: "What a great episode of the #TheChase Celebrity Christmas special I've just watched 200k won." Compliments also came from Yas, who took to social media saying: "Anybody who watches #thechase would agree that ITV were generous for Christmas and agreed to donate the 200000 for charity. Good on you."
