The Chase Shock: Viewers Stunned as Contestant Takes Lowest Offer Without Shame! trucc

Fans of The Chase reckon this fella should be hanging his head in shame after making history on the programme for all the wrong reasons.

Most people can't get through an episode of the ITV show without blaring some expletives at the telly in frustration, and Wednesday night (20 November) was no different.

Host Bradley Walsh was joined by contestants Chetan, Nicky, Kim and Jason, who were all hoping to get their hands on a few quid.

The foursome were facing off against Jenny 'The Vixen' Ryan and things got off to a flying start.

Jason was up first and despite bagging a tidy £6,000 in the cash builder round, he opted not to get ahead of himself and took the Chaser's lower offer of £2,000.

But it was Kim who was the star of the show, as she secured £8,000 before taking a chance and deciding to play for the Chaser's hefty higher offer of £70,000.

They both made it back successfully, meaning there was a whopping £72,000 in the pot - however, it all went Pete Tong when the other two stepped up for their turn.

To be fair, this squad were keen for all four of them to make it to the final chase, but their tactics to achieve this haven't gone down well with the British public.

Nicky, who earned £7,000 in the cash builder, then stepped up to tackle The Vixen.

She decided to take an offer of -£5,000 to improve her chances of making it back, which obviously shrank the prize fund.

Chetan managed to top her though when it was his turn though, as he accepted the lowest ever offer in The Chase's history to get an advantage over the quiz whizz.

When he stepped up to the podium, Ryan gave the salesman, 25, the choice of sticking with the £2,000 he had, taking a risk and trying to bring back £73,000, or playing it ridiculously safe by accepting -£17,000.

Can you guess which one he went for?

Chetan, from Langley, told Bradley: "It's probably not going to be the most popular choice, but I do think there is strength in numbers...so I'm going to go for -£17,000."

He was right about the first part of his sentence, as within a matter of minutes, viewers turned to social media to vent about Chetan's surprise move.

One X user wrote: "What the f**k am I watching, imagine taking the minus £17,000 offer on The Chase...the lowest offer ever. I wouldn’t be able to walk the streets without being ashamed of myself."

Another joked: "Approval from your teammates or not, this is a criminal offence."

And a third added: "I would change my name and flee to a different country if I did this. Wouldn’t be able to handle the shame."

However, his teammates and The Vixen herself all thought Chetan had made the right choice - even if it was quite shocking.

Ryan told the contestant: "Absolutely the correct thing to do I think. There will be £50,000 in the bank if you get back, which is more than most teams would be playing for.

"That is the price to pay for that fearsome full house."

Other people also praised Chetan for playing the long game online - and to be fair to him, it paid off in the end.

He proved a pivotal player during the final chase and the foursome ultimately ended up defeating The Vixen with a score of 21 to 18.

Chetan, Nicky, Kim and Jason ended up bagging the £50,000 and taking home a tidy £12,500 each.

I bet the salesman is feeling pretty smug about taking his -£17,000 risk right about now, eh?
