Pete Wicks has shared a 'big announcement' with fans, and it's fair to say they are thrilled.
The reality star and podcast host won praise from fans earlier this year following the release of his very own series, For Dogs’ Sake. The show had been announced last July with Pete saying it was "a real passion project" for him.
He helmed the four-part rescue dog documentary for U+W, which aired in January and saw him heading to the Dog's Trust in Basildon, Essex, to help rehabilitate canines and find them a new forever home.
The Strictly Come Dancing 2024 star has now confirmed that he'll be back with not just one, but two new series and a Christmas special following the incredible reaction to the first series.
Teasing the news on his Instagram Story, he said: "Big announcement on the grid," before sharing a video to his main profile with the caption: "WE ARE BACK...
"Pete Wicks ‘For Dogs Sake’ will be back on your screens for Series 2, 3 AND a Christmas special!! For me, hearing the news that Series 1 had such a positive & genuine impact on the increasing numbers of dogs being rescued is what really matters.
"The real heroes of this show are the @dogstrust staff & volunteers – the work they do is incredible so expect more episodes highlighting their dedication & commitment."
He added: "Prepare yourself for tears, laughter and more beautiful souls. Filming starts at @dogstrust_basildon very soon so watch this space … @uandw_ @streamonu."
In the clip, Pete said: "There will be lots more heartwarming stories and the rescuing, rehabilitation and rehoming of vulnerable dogs. I'm so excited to be back, the team is excited to have us back, the dogs are very, very excited - some more than others!"
And the comments quickly came flooding in. @dianabarnett1 said: "Fantastic news. We need a new ambassador for dogs since the loss of Paul O Grady and there's no one better than our dog loving Pete. First series was sensational."
@craftsbykaz_edinburgh commented: "Thank god your back on it it's an amazing show and you are so natural in your interaction with the dogs and humans." @starduzt_lady wrote: "That's the news we've all been waiting for Pete!"
@jlstostayingrelevant replied: "THIS. IS. AMAZING!!!!!!!!! It's all about spreading awareness to get them beautiful babies a forever home and who else to do it other than you?! We're all so excited! Proud of you." @antonia_mcneill93 shared: "So so so excited for this."
@lou_c_wals posted: "Absolutely brilliant news! You should have taken over Paul's show but I'm so glad you have your own. You deserve it." @nikkisarah17 added: "This has genuinely made my day. Such a good show, well done!!"
Pete also said in a statement: "I am delighted to return to Dogs Trust for series two, three and a Christmas special of For Dogs’ Sake. Filming the first series and following the journeys of these dogs was such a personal and professional career highlight.
"To know the show received such a positive public reaction, and had a genuine impact on the increasing numbers of dogs being rescued is what really matters.
"The true heroes of this show are the Dogs Trust staff and volunteers – the work they do is incredible and it’s been an honour to highlight their dedication and commitment. I’m excited to be working with U&W and BBC Studios Entertainment to make it all happen again."
