Amy Dowden was flooded with messages of love and support as she shared what had a 'different meaning' to her now, two years on from her cancer diagnosis.
The Strictly Come Dancing star shared her diagnosis publicly after being given the news that she had breast cancer in May 2023. She soon underwent a single mastectomy and later kept her fans updated on her chemotherapy journey.
In February 2024, the 34-year-old announced she had ‘no evidence of disease’ following tests and later made her return to the hit BBC dance show for its 20th-anniversary series last year.
After her time on the show was unfortunatley cut short due to a foot injury, Amy is looking ahead to her return to the ballroom this autumn.
But with rehearsals set to get underway fro the pro dancers any day now, Amy has been making the most of the free time she has beefore the hit dance show takes over.
She was seen jetting away to a sun-soaked location, seemingly Ibiza, with her twin sister, Rebecca, having recently been on the 'run' with her Strictly co-star, Carlos Gu, for a celebrity version of Channel 4's Hunted for Stand up to Cancer.
Taking to Instagram, Amy appeared in good spirts as she took in her beautiful surroundings. Captioning the post, she shared: "Pink will always have a whole new meaning to me," with the images showing her beaming as she walked under a canopy of pink flowers.
Fans were then quick to respond. @hlp10399 said: "Stunning pink girl!! Love you so much Amy. So excited for strictly!! Won’t be long now." @emmafisher8221 commented: "Picture perfect."
@sparkleandthread replied: "Doesn’t it just. Such a gorgeous photo." @the2sistersboutique wrote: "Wow, absolutely stunning @amy_dowden just like you." @moiraat5 added: "Oh what a beautiful picture."
Amy, who has been open and candid about her breast cancer journey, also took to Instagram with new photos from her trip in which she decided to make a change to how she wore her hair.
Posing with her back to the camera, as the sun appeared to be setting in the distance, the photo on her Story showed the Welsh star with her blonde locks down and styled into curls.
"I've not wore my hair down in forever!" Amy shared with her followers. "Bex plaited it and wearing a dress she bought me in 2018."
It comes after Amy appeared on Friday’s (July 18) edition of ITV talk show Lorraine, where she spoke about life after ringing the bell, which signifies the end of a cancer patient’s treatment.
“After I rang the bell, came the longest journey of recovery, and I think people think you’re fine afterwards. But you’re really not," she said.
"I still have to take medication, I still have to go back to the oncology unit once a month for an injection for at least five years. I’ve been put into menopause, I don’t know what my options are going to look like, if I’m going to be able to carry my own children."
Admitting that it’s ‘very tough’ to move forward after ringing the bell, Amy provided an insight into some of the struggles she’s faced.
She explained: “I would just like to say to anybody, don’t compare yourself to others. I think I forgot to be kind to myself afterwards, and I really struggled last year.
“I don’t think I really processed what happened, and I think there are so many people around you when you’re having your treatment, then all of a sudden you’re on your own straight afterwards.”
