RYAN Garcia’s father claims that the social media star has been reunited with esteemed trainer Eddy Reynoso ahead of his clash with Rolando Romero.
Garcia, 24-0 (20 KOs), joined forces with the head coach of Canelo Alvarez back in 2018, before the pair parted ways around three years later.
The 26-year-old claimed that Raynoso did not have enough time to train him, and so a switch to boxing analyst and trainer Joe Goosen arrived soon after their seemingly amicable split.
Since then, however, Garcia jumped ship once again and hired Derrick James, who previously trained Errol Spence Jr, as his new head coach in May, 2023.
Following an eighth-round stoppage victory over Oscar Duarte towards the end of that year, ‘King Ry’ produced a destructive performance to floor Devin Haney three times en route to a majority decision win.
But then, shortly after that fight, it emerged that Garcia had tested positive for ostarine, a performance-enhancing substance, meaning that he was subsequently handed a year-long ban by the New York State Athletic Commission.
With his ban expiring on April 20, though, the American is set to return to the ring this May to take on outspoken contender Romero.
Not only that, but his dad, Henry Garcia, has told MillCity Boxing that Reynoso will be back in his corner.
Yet with super-lightweight rival Teofimo Lopez, too, having recently joined the Canelo camp, quite how this gym dynamic will work remains to be seen.
As of now, meanwhile, there has been no updates from Garcia regarding his training situation.
