Ryan Garcia is willing to step into the ring with Jake Paul.
Garcia is set to return to the professional ring in 2025 after his one-year ban is up following his fight with Devin Haney from April.
‘King Ryan’ originally won the fight against Haney on points, but it was later revealed he had failed two doping tests during fight week. The result was subsequently turned into a no contest and he was suspended by the New York State Athletic Commission.
He is targeting a big fight upon his return, with a showdown against Paul now one that he has set his sights on following Paul’s recent controversial victory over Mike Tyson.
Garcia said in the build-up to the fight that he would try to defend Tyson’s honour, and he has now named the one weight condition that needs to happen if he is to face the Youtuber-turned-boxer whilst speaking to The Ariel Helwani Show.
“185 [the weight for the fight]. I’m 165, 170 now. I would have to eat a lot, but I’d do it.
“I really think that they genuinely think that I’m probably too small, but skills pay the bills. You see Floyd when he fought Logan, Logan was way bigger than I am. I think I can do the same thing. It would be huge.”
Garcia then revealed what he thinks the outcome of the fight would be.
“Everywhere I go people ask me to fight Jake Paul, I’ve got to give the people what they want. If Jake fights the way he fought Mike, I genuinely believe I would knock him out within four or five rounds.”
With the list of potential next opponents for Paul continuing to grow, former middleweight world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr has claimed he has been approached about facing ‘The Problem Child.’
