Rare Alex Ovechkin Autographed Rookie Cards Featured in Upper Deck’s 2024-25 Extended Series trucc

Alex Ovechkin collectors got some major news when Upper Deck released the checklist for their 2024-25 Extended Series release.

The NHL’s exclusive trading card partner announced that they have inserted eight autographed and hand-numbered Ovechkin “Young Guns” rookie cards into the product. This year’s Extended Series release, the third in UD’s flagship product series, dropped its hobby version on May 29 and will be released in a retail format on June 11.

Ovechkin’s Young Guns card was originally released in Upper Deck’s 2005-06 Series 2, and the company purchased back eight raw copies for Ovechkin to sign as part of a special promotion. The cards autographed by Ovechkin are numbered 1/8 through 7/8, with the final card in the set numbered GR8/8.

Base versions of Ovechkin’s rookie card normally sell for around $1,000 or more on secondary market websites like eBay.

You will only have a chance to pull one of the very rare inserts in the more expensive hobby version of the product. The current price for one box is, on average, $120 from online sellers and trading card stores.

Ovechkin is also featured on the cover of the boxes and packs after breaking Wayne Gretzky’s all-time goals record this past season.

Outside of the very few Ovechkin autos, the Capitals will also have cards featuring Taylor Raddysh, Logan Thompson, Jakob Chychrun, Pierre-Luc Dubois, Matt Roy, Brandon Duhaime, Tom Wilson, Dylan Strome, Ivan Miroshnichenko, and Pierrick Dubé in various sets. Ovechkin will also have many more common inserts and other cards.
