Bachelor Nation got to know Rachael Kirkconnell on Season 25 of “The Bachelor,” where she found love with Matt James.
Since their time on the show, the couple has been keeping fans updated with their lives on social media.
And last month, Matt took to his Instagram page to reveal that the two have unfortunately broken up.
Rachael revealed the reason for the breakup during a podcast interview a couple weeks ago, and shared that they ultimately decided they both wanted different things.
Now, Rachael is opening up more about what life has been like since they parted ways and how she’s currently feeling emotionally.
In an interview with Cosmopolitan, she shared, “I would honestly say that I’m... I don’t know if it’s shock, but I don’t think I’ve registered it still. It’s only been a few weeks, but I’m definitely in that phase of just, like, still trying to grasp everything and figure out a new normal. It’s easier said than done.”
The Bachelor Nation star continued and admitted that while some days are difficult, overall she’s feeling all right about the situation.
“Some days are easier than others, but I’m feeling okay,” she said, “Breakups are normal; they happen to everyone. But I think just the way it went down was really crazy for me to comprehend and still is. In a way, it almost makes it easier, you know? I think when something crazy like that happens, it’s something that you can almost replay in your head to get over it quicker, if that makes any sense.”
Rachael also gave a shout-out to her little sister Trinity for supporting her through this time and revealed that many people from Bachelor Nation have also reached out.
She shared, “A lot of the girls from my cast have been very supportive. I think when you’re watching the show, it’s easy to forget that the women on each season spend so much time together that real friendships are formed. As the years go on, of course, everyone ends up doing their own thing and you don’t get to see each other as much, but you’ve been through such a crazy thing in your life that you’ll always be tied together somehow. It’s just nice to know that even after all the years that have gone by, they’re still in my corner at the end of the day. Lots of love from everyone.”
