Love Is Blind's Garrett Josemans has angered viewers for branding love interest Taylor Krause 'calculated' for keeping her ethnicity hidden 

Taylor didn't want to reveal her ethnicity so she could really lean into the experiment while dating in the pods

'It is a new feeling for me, even without knowing like what ethnicity you are. I don't know what that looks like for me… It's just a shock.'

Garrett left viewers aghast with what he said next.

'You are very calculated about what you say,' he continued. 'And while I love that about you, also, I'm like, "What's she hiding?"' 

He also went on the question whether Taylor was 'curating' a 'carefully curated image' of herself.

Taylor admitted that it was 'hard to hear' Garrett saying that she was 'calculated'.

She said: 'The reason I wasn't going to share my ethnicity was because it was an opportunity to have someone not know how I look at all.

'I'm just really interested to know if my emotional intellectual thought processes is enough, and that everything else is extra.'

Viewers slammed Garrett's approach to the subject of ethnicity, with some reminding him that the show's entire premise is meant to be dating sight unseen.

Taking to X, one blasted: 'Garrett basically told Taylor she's sneaky and deceiving him because she didn't share that she is not white - DO YOU KNOW WHAT SHOW YOU'RE ON??????'

Another said: 'Not Garrett malfunctioning because he found out the woman he's interested in isn't white... calling her "calculated" because she didn't immediately say she's Asian on a show called LOVE IS BLIND???'

A third added: 'Wtf how is Garrett saying Taylor is calculated for saying she doesn't wanna disclose her ethnicity when that's literally the point of show, such a weirdo.'

'Does Garrett realise he signed up for a show where the entire premise is not knowing what the other person looks like? It's literally called Love is BLIND,' a fourth raged.

A fifth said: 'Taylor should NEVER have had to justify to Garrett why she did not want to reveal her ethnicity for MULTIPLE reasons but let's start with the fact the show's entire premise is based around not knowing anything about what the other person behind the wall looks like.'

'Garrett, Taylor is calculated because she doesn't want you to know her ethnicity? You're on Love is Blind,' a sixth raged.

'You're crashing out because she shattered your dream of her being white when she brought up ethnicity.'

A seventh vented: 'Garrett's reaction to Taylor not sharing her ethnicity was insane??? Why the hell did she just bypass that?'

Taylor doubled down on her decision to withhold her ethnicity out of respect for the experiment.

In an interview with Today, she said: 'I'm a very proud Asian woman, but, I also wanted to honor the experiment in a way that he can get to know that part of me later when he meets my mom and does different Chinese heritage or traditions that we have.

'In the pods, it was the only opportunity for him to get to love me for just the merits of me and not have ethnicity tied to it.'

She continued: 'I wanted to just take ethnicity out of the equation and be able to just fall in love [with] our characters and personalities first.'

Despite the uncomfortable conversation, Garrett proposed to Taylor and she accepted.

While it is not yet known whether the pair are still together, the first batch of Love Is Blind episodes confirmed they were still an item by the end of the honeymoons.
