MARRIED At First Sight's Emma Barnes and Caspar Todd have quit the experiment after an emotionally-charged commitment ceremony.

Emma, 31, was left in floods of tears after she and Caspar, 34, reluctantly agreed that it was time for them to give up on their marriage.

The couple both admitted their relationship was too flawed to continue, with Caspar saying there is "still no romantic spark" between them.

Tearful Emma, meanwhile, told MAFS UK expert Mel Schilling that she had hoped to find someone who would "adore" her.

Speaking to the cameras after they both agreed to leave the show, Emma sobbed as she said: "It’s over, my marriage is over.

"I wanted to come here and and walk dow the aisle and walk out hand-in-hand with my husband.

"It’s such a shame I didn't get someone to adore me and me adore them."

Emma and Caspar, who met for the first time on their wedding day, agreed to call it quits during Monday night's episode of MAFS UK.

Sitting down in front of Mel, Caspar - who infamously compared Emma to his sister - even confessed that he'd wanted to leave the previous week.

The professional gardener told Mel that he had been left "hurt" after Emma refused to be emotionally vulnerable with him.

Caspar told his wife: "In the nicest possible way, I wanted to leave last week.

"You said to me, 'I don't know if I like you enough to be emotionally vulnerable'."

Turning to Mel, he said: "If that’s what she thinks of me, why am I here?"

Hitting back, Emma revealed that Caspar had made a comment about "future people" when discussing romance - hinting that his future wasn't with her.

"I asked you if you’d like to practices the task and you said, 'Yes I want to and build intimacy with future people'," she said.

"I felt like I was a testing station!"

Despite this, it initially appeared as though Emma wanted to continue to try and make her marriage with Caspar work.

She told him: "I feel like we’re nitpicking at things we’ve done this week but I know this anger is temporary."

But Caspar told Mel that he wanted what 'Lacey and Nathan have', while nodding towards blissfully happy newlyweds Lacey Martin and Nathan Campbell.

"I‘m not as positive as Emma," he continued: "We feel sad, as we came here for love.

"Emma is fantastic but I need someone to need me more than Emma will ever need me. She’s a very strong and independent woman.

"Both Emma and I applied for this because we both wanted to find The One.

"I think Emma is a lovely person but, for me, what I've found is we live our lives in such different ways. I’ve not been perfect but I don’t feel a romantic spark."

Mafs couples that have stood the test of time

Loved-up Tayah Victoria and Adam Aveling of series six fame had the first Mafs baby.

The pair couldn't keep their hands off each other on the programme and quickly found their feet in the outside world, moving into Adam's Doncaster home.

Just 18 months after meeting, the couple welcomed their daughter Beau.

Season five couple Michelle Walder and Owen Jenkins also managed to make their marriage work away from the cameras and had their first child in December.

Teacher Michelle, 29, has no regrets about taking part in the experiment. She told us: “I just feel very lucky and thankful that it has worked out - and excited for everything to come.”

Michelle and Owen were both sick of dating apps when they applied in 2019.

Owen recalled: “I had been out for some drinks with a friend after work.

"While he was out for a cigarette I was scrolling on Instagram waiting for him to come back in.

“The MAFS advert was the last thing I saw, and I joked, ‘Wouldn’t it be funny if I signed up?’

“A few beers later when I was back at home I sent in the application, and the rest is history.”

Another couple to make Mafs UK history is Zoe Clifton and Jenna Robinson.

Despite a slight rocky start, where they clashed over Jenna's vegan lifestyle, the show's first same sex pairing are still going strong.

They even have a successful podcast together called Life With a Pod.

Jenna shed light on being involved in the show earlier this year when she told us: "We're not legally married, and I never felt like we were. I definitely feel the process makes you take the relationship a lot more seriously and having the help of the experts… if you can survive that process it sets a firm foundation for a long-lasting relationship."

Caspar then showed he had written down 'LEAVE' before the commitment ceremony.

Getting emotional, investment sales manager Emma also agreed that it was time to give up and showed Mel she had also written 'LEAVE'.

MAFS UK fans were not surprised at Emma and Caspar's departure from the E4 show - they expected it from Day 1.

Referring to Caspar's disastrous blunder on their wedding day, one viewer wrote on X: "The moment Caspar compared Emma to his sister you just knew it was a non-starter."

Another added: "Go Caspar, live your own life find someone who doesn't look like your sister. Emma, just go and live your best life."
