The 22-year-old left the villa on 17th July. Now, ITV has weighed in on his exit
This week, Love Island has been rocked by a love triangle between Harrison, Lauren and Toni.
To recap: Harrison was originally coupled with Toni, but he recoupled with Lauren who he met at Casa Amor and Toni recoupled with Cach. However, after sleeping with Lauren in the communal bedroom, Harrison then announced he still had feelings for Toni, picking her in a recoupling ceremony and leaving both Lauren and Cach in tears.
After Toni learned that Harrison had been physical with Lauren on two occasions, she shared that she regretted her decision. Toni then saw Harrison and Lauren flossing each other's teeth and later shared that she felt like he should have stayed with Lauren, as well as opening up about her feelings that he was embarrassing her and explaining to her female friends that she was "done".
On Thursday, rumours then began to circulate that Harrison had left the villa, with an unnamed insider breaking the news to the press. "It's been a momentous few days for Harrison and ultimately he has decided to quit," the source told The Sun. "Everyone was so shocked and people were crying and hugging him."
"He worked through everything with the ITV duty of care team and is making his way home to his family now."
ITV has since weighed in on the rumours, publishing a post which confirms Harrison's departure. The IG post shows a picture of Harrison with the words 'walked' overlaid over his image.
And, during Friday's episode, the full context of Harrison's departure was made clear.
Upon the arrival of Angel, the latest bombshell, Islanders were tasked with ranking who she would find the most attractive. Ty (who was coupled up with Lauren) was placed first, leading to him automatically being recoupled with Angel. As a result, Lauren was dumped from the island.
However, when Lauren left the villa, she asked Harrison to go with her, saying: "I know it's a big ask and we've not been on the best terms the last two days but I think everything that we've had for the last 10 days, we know what's real and I think we know deep down that we're meant to be together."
Harrison said he'd "found everything I wanted" with Lauren, but, despite that, Lauren left the villa on her own and Harrison took the evening to sleep on his decision.
The next day, he told Dejon and Harry that he had made his decision and that he was leaving the villa.
During his emotional departure, Harrison apologised to Toni for his behaviour.
"I want you to know that I genuinely am sorry for the way that I treated you in here. I feel like I've done a lot of reflecting today and what I've done to you is not okay. And I feel like if someone treated my sister the way I've treated you, I'd be mortified."
He added: "I feel terrible for it and I am sorry. You're a great girl, you know you're a great girl. You have so much to offer and I feel like any guy would be lucky to have you honestly."
"I just think maybe we weren't right for each other and that's why I acted the way I acted. I just hope you can see how sorry I am. I never meant to hurt you like this."
New episodes of Love Island air on ITV2 on weekdays and Sundays at 9pm.
