Love is Blind's Marshall Glaze and Fiancée Chay Barnes Break Up Less Than One Year After Engagement liennhi

Marshall Glaze and Dr. Shay Barnes are going their separate ways.

The Love Is Blind star, who got engaged to the nurse practitioner earlier this year shared that, while the pair’s relationship was a "very positive experience,” they have decided to part ways.

"Ultimately, we came to the realization that we are in two different places in life right now," Marshall told People in an interview published Sept. 27. "You know, it’s okay.”

Though the couple have closed the chapter on their engagement, the 29-year-old expressed that his book of love is not done being written.

“Things happen and we’re not ruling each other out,” he continued. “Time will only tell. She understands that, I understand it, and we’re just going forward."

Marshall previously looked for lasting romance on Love Is Blind season four, where he got engaged to castmate Jackie Bonds. However, they ended their engagement shortly after and Marshall later introduced Shay on a September 2023 Love is Blind: After the Alter episode. "I do know that's who I want,” he expressed to fellow castmate Brett Brown. “That's who I wanna spend my life with."

And then in January, Marshall shared his engagement to Shay in a since-deleted Jan. 23 Instagram post, writing alongside photos of the proposal, “The journey to 'Happily Ever After' started on 12.23.23.”

Marshall—who popped the question with help from fellow Love Is Blind alum Irina Solomonova’s event planning company—also included a video of himself escorting Chay down a flower-lined aisle and candles arranged into the words "Marry Me."

"Such a special day," he added. "She had NO idea. GOTCHA!"

Ahead of their engagement, Marshall and Shay celebrated their first anniversary in a now-deleted July 2023 Instagram post.

"One year of laughing, crying, adjusting, communicating, healing…" they wrote in the shared post. "Our journey to where we are today is a testament of resilience and unconditional love for one another. Cheers to Year One and cheers to many more."
