Ozzy Osbourne bid farewell to fans with a Black Sabbath reunion in his final ever live performance over the weekend
Loose Women star, Jane Moore, revealed Ozzy Osbourne's unexpected reaction before his final gig over the weekend.
The rock superstar, 76, bid farewell to fans with a Black Sabbath reunion in his final ever live performance. Ozzy told thousands of fans at Villa Park, Birmingham – a stone's throw from where Black Sabbath was formed in 1968 – that it was "so good to be on this stage" as he performed his last set from a large black throne.
Jane, 63, who was backstage at the event and knows the Osbourne family well especially after being Sharon Osbourne's ghost writer, shared details from the iconic concert on Monday's Loose Women.
The presenter said: "It was amazing, I'll tell you why it was so amazing... A) because Ozzy loves Birmingham, he's from Birmingham, he's from Aston, it was at Aston Villa's football stadium. He loves Birmingham and Birmingham loves Ozzy. So that is where he wanted to do his final live performance."
She added: "All of the love there for Black Sabbath and Ozzy, all of Ozzy's family were there. All his kids were there, all his grandkids, his sisters, obviously Sharon was there.
"I saw him in his dressing room just before he went on and he was so nervous, which is so not Ozzy. I think he was just like because it was Birmingham and because he wanted to get it right. As soon as he got on that stage, it was just incredible."
Talking about the event, Jane admitted: "It was really emotional particularly when he thanked the fans, he just said: 'I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart.'"
Ozzy and his fellow original Black Sabbath members – Tony Iommi, Terence “Geezer” Butler and Bill Ward – were the last to appear on stage as part of a star-studded line-up for the Back to the Beginning concert.
Among the bands performing were Anthrax, Metallica and Guns N’ Roses, and there were messages of thanks from other celebrities, including Jack Black, Ricky Gervais and Dolly Parton.
Ozzy – who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2019 – plans to continue to record music, but said that the concert marked the end for him performing live.
In one emotional moment, Ozzy said: "I don’t know what to say, man, I’ve been laid up for like six years. You have no idea how I feel – thank you from the bottom of my heart. You’re all f****** special. Let’s go crazy, come on."
Loose Women continues on weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV and ITV X.
