Tasha Ghouri has told fans that it 'breaks her heart' to hear stories of those struggling while living with a hearing disability, as she made an important move.
The Strictly Come Dancing 2024 star took to social media after giving a speech at a transition day event with the Scottish Cochlear Implant Team at the Glasgow University Union.
Sharing a video of the day, Tasha could be heard sharing her words of support and encouragement, having having been deaf since birth and a cochlear implant user.
Alongside the video, Tasha shared: "Today was a truly wholesome and emotional day, listening to the powerful stories of young adults on their journeys with cochlear implants. I had the chance to share my own experience through childhood and leave a little message of encouragement at the end."
It was then that she shared: "One story especially broke my heart, a brave young woman confided in me that she’s currently being bullied.
"It breaks my heart this still happens, I gave her the biggest hug but this shows we all need to be a little kinder to one another. Days like this truly matter to be able to embrace our disability in a safe, supportive space @scottishcochlearimplantnhs @medel_global."
Messages soon came flooding in of love and support. @feewillis22 said: "What a wonderful day that must have been. So proud of you." @lucymaygoodwin commented: "You are so incredible Tasha. Keep on spreading your love, hard work and dedication to all."
@jacquelinemharris wrote: "You are so inspiring not only to the deaf community but to everyone. Keep going with your head held high and you will conquer the world." @theblackfarmlimited shared: "Written from the heart @tashaghouri. You are the perfect advocate."
@kevdunn71 replied: "Wow! This is great, Tasha." @edddadd posted: "Well done. Carry on your good work." @meeks3172 added: "You are a brilliant, articulate and kind advocate. A wonderful role model for all and so inspiring for the deaf community."
It comes after Tasha spoke out about the ‘new chapter’ in her life, after splitting from former boyfriend Andrew Le Page. The couple, who got together on the 2022 series of the ITV2 show, announced that they had broken up in January after nearly three years together.
Speaking to Closer at the British Diversity Awards in March, Tasha said: "Life has been amazing. It’s a new chapter now. It’s a new beginning and it’s all about embracing that and that’s what life is about."
The reality star added: "I'm just focusing on myself. Onwards and upwards now."
