Loose Women star Brenda Edwards has revealed she hasn't turned on her heating for a whopping five years

Loose Women star Brenda Edwards left her fellow panellists stunned when she made an incredible admission about her home life during an episode of the ITV show last year

Brenda Edwards astoundingly confessed that she hasn't switched on her heating in an amazing five years. Chatting on Loose Women which aired last October, the 55 year old panellist divulged to viewers, "I've never turned my radiators on in five years and I'm not turning them on. You know what the best regulator for heat is clothing. Put on your clothes, take them off, layers. I know about layers."

The revelation came as the group, including hosts Ruth Langsford, Coleen Nolan, and Janet Street-Porter, were discussing the all-too-common household arguments over the thermostat setting, reports OK!. When quizzed by Ruth about whether she even had a heating system, the singer, known from her X Factor days, quipped: "I've got radiators I just don't put them on. I pay the bills and I'm not paying."

Brenda's surprising confession came as the panel, including Ruth Langsford, Coleen Nolan and Janet Street-Porter, were chatting about thermostat tiffs.

The candid Brenda, who battled breast cancer back in 2016, explained that prior to the pandemic lockdown, she didn't feel the need for constant heating as she was working in theatre, leaving the house with children at home.

She elaborated further saying, "And that would mean your heating is on 24 hours, I'm not having that. So I switch it off, a standard switch off, we've got hot water that's all you need. What else do you need? If you need something else put on your clothes, put on your jumper, your cardigan."

Brenda excitedly shared her latest career move on the show at the time, revealing: "I am excited because I've been offered by the producers of Hairspray my debut director role to direct Hairspray: The musical next year. I've played the role of Motormouth for like five years in this particular production and it was very overwhelming to be asked."

She continued with her vision for inclusivity: "At the time, when they asked me I thought about it and, at the end of the day, I am a product of an open audition so I suggested to them that I wanted to conduct open auditions to give opportunities and chances to people who might not necessarily have them."

Brenda had revealed she was about to take on her first directing role for Hairspray: The Musical

Despite her excitement, Brenda confessed to battling "imposter syndrome" as she stepped into the director's shoes. Speaking previously about her new challenge, she couldn't hide her enthusiasm: "I couldn't be more thrilled to be invited by the producers to make my directorial debut on the show as a co-director with Paul Kerryson," adding, "Hairspray, and this production in particular, has been such a huge part of my life."

She concluded with anticipation for the future: "The show's story and themes are as relevant as ever and I cannot wait to hold the open auditions to discover a new cast and work together to present a vibrant new production of this timeless musical for everyone to enjoy." Her Hairspray tour, which kicked off in Manchester in July, is set to run until July next year.
