Leva Bonaparte is a star on two Charleston-based reality TV shows. She is a steady friend to two sets of cast mates, although, in the case of Southern Hospitality, Leva functions more as a boss than anything. However, she did have kind words to say about Paige DeSorbo and Craig Conover’s surprise split.
There was a lot of reaction online when the former power Bravolebrity couple called it quits just before the new year. Craig expressed shock in a video statement to fans. For her part, Leva was not surprised.
Leva Bonaparte said the former couple “have so much going on”
The Southern Charm star was “sad” to hear about her friend’s breakup.
“They really love each other,” Leva revealed on Breaking the Rules podcast. “Paige would say things to Craig like we would as friends. She didn’t kiss his ass and he never did her.”
Neither Craig nor Paige explained their decision publicly. But the Republic Bar & Lounge owner attributed the break up to the two of them focusing on their work.
“When they broke up it was sad because you could tell they loved each other, but you could also tell there was strain. They both have so much going on,” Leva shared.
She added, “I’ve seen those relationships where sometimes love is maybe not enough. I’m going in this direction; you’re going in this direction. I didn’t foresee how it was going to work. I don’t think [Paige] was ever going to move here. She’d wanna stab herself in the eye.”
Women don’t need to make the “concessions” anymore
With neither party willing to stipulate, the logistics of living in two separate cities took its toll. And the expectation of Paige moving to Charleston seemed unfair.
“I don’t know if Craig would work in New York,” Leva suggested. She didn’t see him as a “New York guy.” But she said, “I think he could have a second place there.”
Now that the former couple is moving from each other, fans are watching Craig and Paige’s next moves. Both are immersed in work, with the latter on a tour for her Giggly Squad podcast. She also has book coming out.
“I wasn’t necessarily shocked. These are big things. It’s a new generation where [women] don’t have to make all those concessions,” Leva concluded.
The Bravolebrity said the former relationship “could just be a really epic love story.”
