Kym Marsh has vowed to "put herself first for once" in the wake of her split from her toyboy boyfriend.
The actor, BBC presenter and former singer has been unlucky in love over the years but is not feeling sorry for herself and says you just have to "keep going" and good things will come into your life. She would not directly discuss dating but told Closer magazine: "Life is always a struggle - It's not like all of a sudden, it's a fairy tale.
"There are always things that people struggle with. I think people are out there and they're struggling - having a hard time or trying to achieve a dream - and my advice is just keep going. I find that eventually things generally pay off. So just keep going."
Kym dated Samuel Thomas, her co-star from stage show 101 Dalmations and posted photos on social media looking very much in love. But sadly the romance with Sam, 18 years her junior, ended shortly before Christmas.
The actress turns 49 in June meaning she is getting close to reaching the milestone big 5-0 birthday year. And she has big plans for the celebrations.
She said: "I might celebrate every single month for the whole year, you are only 50 once, right? I'm nowhere near ready to give up at all. I feel like at this moment in time, I've really made some good choices, and I want to make some positive changes, and finally, start looking after me.
"I have a tendency to always put others before myself, so this year, I'm going to[put myself first] and I think that's the right thing to do, especially when you're heading for the big 5-0. It's about making more food choices, getting back into the gym, getting more sleep and spending more time at home."

Kym has had a brilliant career and played the role of Michelle Connor for 13 years on Coronation Street, saying last year she would be open to a return to the cobbles.
Previously she had been in the music business with pop band Hear'Say. She won a place in the band in 2000 on ITV show Popstars and had years of success.
She made her television acting debut in 2005, in an episode of the BBC One soap opera Doctors, playing a character called Ruth Parry. That same year, she also became a regular panellist on ITV's daytime show Loose Women for its eighth season and she joined Coronation Street in 2006.
Kym has been married three times and had a number of high profile relationships which haven't worked out.
The singer fell for EastEnders actor Jamie Mitchell back in 2001, when she reportedly bumped into him in the staff canteen following a Top of the Pops performance. The pair began to date, before later going on to marry at St. Albans parish church, Hertford, in August 2002.
The couple enjoyed six years together before deciding to bring their relationship to an end in 2008 and their divorce was finalised in 2009.
Next Kym fell head over heels for another soap star, this time from rival soap Hollyoaks. She began dating Jamie Lomas, shortly after her divorce in 2009, and within a year fell pregnant.
Sadly, in a heartbreaking twist, at just 21 weeks she went into labour and her son Archie sadly died just minutes after being born.
The couple mourned the loss of their child but went on to welcome a daughter named Polly in March 2011. The couple married in September 2012, but were later divorced by 2014.
And most recently she walked down the aisle with her army major love Scott Ratcliff at Sandhurst in 2022
They were married in front of 150 people at the Royal Memorial Chapel. Coronation Street star Alison King was a bridesmaid while Corrie actor Antony Cotton joined the groomsmen. But it lasted less than two years.
