Karen Hauer sparks Strictly Come Dancing 'axe rumours' amid pro dancer 'purge' liennhi

Karen Hauer has teased fans whether she'll appear in the next series of Strictly Come Dancing. The professional dancer appeared on Good Morning Britain on Thursday (20/02/25) alongside fellow professional Gorka Marquez.

When host Richard Madeley quizzed Karen about her participation in the 2025 season, Karen didn't reply and smiled, prompting Richard to say, "I'll take that as a yes."

Kate Garraway said, "Oh, you're not sure? You don't know?" Karen said, "I can't say. I don't know!" Gorka then commented: "Only they know."

Karen and Gorka said they'd love to do the show if they were asked to take part again. Gorka expressed: "Of course, it's the best entertainment show on telly, you know?"

The news comes just months after it was reported that five seasoned professional dancers potentially faced the chop from Strictly Come Dancing.

Nadiya Bychkova, Neil Jones, Karen Hauer, Gorka Marquez, and Katya Jones were all rumoured to face the axe and hang up their dancing shoes.

Express Online reported in November that a show source allegedly told the press that a major shakeup of the cast depended on who performed well in the 2024 series.

Nadiya was the first pro dancer to be voted off, followed by Neil Jones and Karen Hauer. Katya made it to Blackpool Week but was eliminated alongside partner Wynne Evans.

The insider reportedly said at the time: “The review of the line-up has always been about making a fresh start, and that was always going to be affected by which dancers performed well this series.

“The feeling is that the Strictly troupe is made up of some fading stars, while others are rising stars. And in many cases there are certain characters whose shoes can easily be filled with younger, up-and-coming counterparts.

“It’s harsh but it’s just part of the traditional turnover of showbusiness. Of the five names in the mix almost all of them went out in the first half of the series, which is very much seen as a landmark point for Strictly."
