Loose Women icon Kaye Adams recently reflected on getting older and how admitting her real age was 'huge' for her

Loose Women star Kaye Adams has opened up about growing older, as she admits "it's huge for me" in an honest confession.

Chatting on a recent episode of the Loose Women podcast, Kaye joined fellow panellist Frankie Bridge as they delved into a variety of topics including the ageing process.

As Frankie jokingly exclaimed that her co-star has only just started being honest about her age, Kaye confessed: "For me to actually say 'my name is Kaye and I'm 62' is huge for me, it is absolutely huge for me."

And, explaining why she has always been reluctant to reveal her true age in the past, she said part of the blame goes to her mum, recalling that she would remain exceptionally coy over how old she was and that she would only ever go as far as confirming that she was over 21.

Meanwhile, further shedding light on how she is coming to terms with growing older, the ITV star reflected on the difficulty of turning 60: "So, I'm 62 now, I've really struggled with age all of my life, and certainly being 60 because there's no upside to 60."

Explaining how greeting cards best show why so many have have a sense of trepidation as they approach their sixth decade, she added: "Look at greetings cards, you know you're amazing in your 20, your 30s, you're even fabulous in your 50s but when you get to 60 I mean all the greetings cards are like you've got no teeth, your boobs are on the table. I mean there's no kind of upside to it."

Away from sharing her latest life insights, Kaye shot to fame back in the 1980s as she reported on some of the biggest breaking news stories, including coverage of the Lockerbie disaster. In more recent years, the mother-of-two has made several appearances on ITV's This Morning, but she is perhaps most well known for being part of the Loose Women panel.

Appearing on the very first episode of the show alongside Karren Brady, Nadia Sawalha and Jane Moore in 1999, the broadcaster remains a prominent member of the show to this day.
