Big Brother returns tonight with a brand-new series and of course, contestants, one of which has been teased as TOWIE’s Joey Essex. The reality star sent fans into a frenzy as he appeared in the Big Brother promo for the show, where he gets a tour from Selling Sunset’s Chelsea Lazkani who hopes to ‘sell’ him the pad.
In the promo video, Chelsea enters the swanky house and boasts that she’s secured the ‘hottest property in town’. Then enters Joey who looks around the property and says, ‘it’s beautiful, it’s really, really demure’. While the pair have got a first look into the Big Brother house, neither Joey nor Chelsea will actually be starring in the series.
Fans are pleased that Joey won’t be taking part in this year’s civilian series and took to social media to say so. As the promo was released on social media, one wrote: “This better not be true”. Another added: “I hope this is fake. He can’t go on Selling Sunset an
d claim to buy a $5 million house and then go on Love Island AND BB”.
A third despaired: “Enough! Can I watch a programme without him popping up!!?”. Another wrote: “Pls no. He ruined love island this summer”.
A fifth added: Didn’t he literally just do the exact same thing a few weeks ago on Love Island?!? Not to hate on the lad but I think apart from this show & MAFSUK, he has done every other reality show going”.
In his most recent TV appearance, Joey switched Essex for the Hollywood hills where he sought Chelsea’s help in buying an LA pad. Joey surprised the real estate agent when he suddenly jumped into the pool in the hope to impress her and Emma Hernan.
Before that, Joey starred in Love Island where after a whirlwind romance, Joey left Love Island this summer arm-in-arm with Jessy Potts, only to call it quits after seven brief weeks , having been the villa’s only celeb.
Last Friday (28 September), Joey was spotted sneakily popping into the Big Brother premises at Harlesden’s London to film clips for the series, which is now presented by AJ Odudu and Will Best . In 2023, when the civilian series returned for the first time with ITV, it was Jordan Sangha who was declared the winner – the show is also where he met his now boyfriend, Henry Southan.
