Jenn Tran Discusses the Pressure of Being First Asian Bachelorette and If She Has Any Regrets tram

Opening up.

Bachelor Nation fans first met Jenn Tran on Season 28 of “The Bachelor,” and now she’s ready to kick off her own journey to find love on Season 21 of “The Bachelorette.”

Ahead of her highly anticipated season premiere on July 8, Jenn stopped by for an exclusive chat with BachelorNation.com, where she got candid about her experience.
While she’s shared how grateful she is to be the first ever Asian American Bachelorette, Jenn also shared if she feels any pressure taking on the role.

She said, “Of course I feel pressure. A lot of it actually comes from me wanting to be a good role model and do it ‘right,’ whatever that means. At the end of the day, I tell myself that it’s just about being myself and telling my story the best that I can.”

She added, “It’s not necessarily about pleasing other people, which I do have a problem with, because I want everyone to be able to relate and learn from me. At the end of the day, I’m just so grateful and honored to be the first Asian American lead and to be able to tell my story.”

Jenn also discussed taking a break from physician assistant school and how she talked with her men about going back to school this season.

She said, “A lot of them knew that I was in PA school because I talked so much about being a physician assistant and what it really means to me. So I think a lot of them knew how important it was to me and how I will be finishing school. This means I will be in Miami for another year, and that was a huge part of these relationships. We talked about if they’re willing to do long distance or willing to move. Those conversations happened a little bit later because that was when feelings were really real and you could really think about what life would look like in the outside world.”

Jenn continued, “I am a bit of an overachiever and I really wanted to do everything all at once because it’s tough for me to honestly give up being a PA student right now, even just temporarily it feels weird for me. But I knew I just really needed to focus on one thing at a time because that is what’s best for everybody. PA school isn’t just a hobby, it’s something that I want to excel in so I know that I need to give it the time that it deserves.”

And when we asked Jenn if she has any regrets now looking back at her season before it airs, she said she feels confident in the choices she made.

The Bachelorette said, “I honestly don’t have any regrets. I really feel like I tried to be myself the most I could be and I learned from everything. So no, I don’t really have any regrets because I think everything played out the way it’s supposed to play out. I’m just very happy with it all.”

How exciting! We can’t wait to see Jenn’s love story unfold starting on Monday, July 8, at 8 p.m. on ABC.
