JB Gill declares who his favourite Strictly Come Dancing host is – and it may surprise you liennhi

A former Strictly Come Dancing star has shared his favourite host of the BBC ballroom show. The glitzy competition sees celebs partner up with professional partners in a bid to show off their twinkle toes and bag the Glitterball trophy.

Overseeing the show are hosts and friends Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly. Now one of the latest series contestants, JB Gill, has shared which of the two he prefers.

Speaking to The Times, when asked if he prefers Tess Daly or Claudia Winkleman, the former JLS star replied: "They’re both lovely — but Claudia, only because I spent more time with her in the Clauditorium."

JB faced a turbulent time on the show, having originally being paired with Amy Dowden but having to switch up his dance partner after she sustained an injury and was advised to take a break from dancing. He ended the competition dancing with Lauren Oakley instead.

Speaking about the change, he told The Times: "If you’d asked at the start of the process how would [the partner change] affect me, I’d have probably said negatively but in the end it didn’t at all. I’m one of those people that loves being under pressure.”

Despite his profound success on the show, JB confessed he didn't know how he made it through each week, having to learn a new and tricky dance every time.

Speaking to Express.co.uk at the TV Choice Awards, JB said: "I think the hardest and most interesting part was learning the different disciplines every week.

"I look back on it and I don't know how we got through each week.

"We'd learn a new discipline in three days basically and then go straight to a studio and perform it live on national television."

Comparing the contestant's lack of experience to that of the professionals, JB continued: "The pros have been there and doing it for years, training and developing in each of the disciplines and we come in and try and recreate it in three days.

"So it is full on but it's one of those things, you do your best and just hope you get through every week."
