The Big Brother final is just two days away as one of the six housemates will be crowned this year's champion on Friday night, but some fans were left questioning the point in Wednesday night's episode.

The Big Brother showdown is imminent, with the final set for this Friday night, when the remaining six contestants will battle it out to become this year's victor.

Despite a heartwarming segment in Wednesday's episode featuring housemates receiving letters from their loved ones, viewers were left perplexed as to why ITV decided to introduce such an emotional moment so late in the season.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer wrote: "Surely a task/moment like this has come too late?? like what's the point it finishes 3 days after they got these messages lol #bbuk." (sic)

There was clear frustration among fans, with another stating: "Oh great, 'messages from home'. Always, without fail, absolute death segments on every single reality show. #bbuk." (sic)

The sentiment was echoed by another individual who commented: "They'll see their damn family and friends in a few days, this boring a** letter from home s**t does my head in! #BBUK." (sic)

Humour was found in criticism as well, with someone quipping: "This is basically like when I'm A Celeb contestants get letter from him 2 hours before they leave the f*****g jungle. They'll start pumping snow patrol or some s***e over the phone calls to make it 'big sad'." (sic)

The music choice didn't escape censure either, with another adding: "The stupid sad music over the messages from home. They've only been gone 6 weeks ffs #BBUK." (sic)

One more series-goer even admitted skipping episodes due to the emotionally charged content, writing: "messages from home is always the worst part of any series of reality tv. a waste of time honestly. i've had to turn this episode off. i'll be back on friday for the final. #BBUK." (sic)

Adding to the tension, Tuesday's episode saw the abrupt elimination of two additional housemates right before the grand finale, reports the Manchester Evening News.

It was unveiled that both Sarah and Thomas had garnered the least votes, resulting in their departure from the UK's most famous house.

The vault was once again opened, and Sarah, Thomas, Segun and Nathan were called inside, with the remaining housemates tasked with predicting which two would be exiting.

Their correct guess ensured they didn't lose £10,000, keeping the prize fund steady at £90,000.

However, Sarah and Thomas weren't the only ones to bid farewell this week, as Baked Potato was shown the door during Monday's episode, leading to a tearful goodbye with her partner Nathan.

Ali, Hanah, Segun, Marcello, Emma and Nathan are set to compete in Friday's grand finale, where one contestant will walk away with the full cash prize and the coveted title of Big Brother 2024 winner.

Big Brother continues tomorrow night at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
