Kai Widdrington has been hailed by fans for a 'beautiful' moment with one of his Strictly Come Dancing co-stars who he said is one of his 'closest friends'.

The professional dancer, who joined the hit dance show back in 2021, was marking the recent Pride events taking place in London as he took to social media with a magical routine he performed alongside Johannes Radebe on Strictly.

The regency-style performance, to Taylor Swift's Lover and Love Story aired during Strictly's 2021 series and saw Kai and fellow pro Johannes take the lead in a same-sex partnership.

During that year's Movie week special, a mainstay on the series, Johannes invited all the professionals to a Regency-era ball complete with flowing gowns and smart suits.

In the introductory video, Johannes explains the dance, which takes place in a magical palace is all about love and tolerance.

Resharing a video of the performance, Kai shared on Instagram: "Happy Pride, London. Reflecting on my very first season of Strictly and the absolute honour of dancing this beautiful number with one of my closest friends johannes A moment that will live in my heart forever #Pride #StrictlyMemories."

Kai's Strictly co-star Lauren Oakley was quick to respond to the update, writing: "Such a beautiful, special number." Former Strictly contestant Maisie Smith echoed: "So beautiful."

Fans were also quick to respond. @jojo.radebe.fan said: "The most beautiful number, one I rewatch often." @lucymaygoodwin commented: "Still one of my favourite group numbers of all time!! Something so so special. Saw it on the live tour."

@joannagoody wrote: "One of my favourite dances ever. So beautifully danced." @lisaaboo_ shared: "This routine has held a special place in my heart since you guys performed it, so so special." @tanyarachelb added: "I will never get tired of watching that dance. I love it. Pure perfection."

It comes after Kai named his 'dream' Strictly Come Dancing partner as he hopes to be back involved in the competition this year. As the 2024 series got underway, Kai wasn't given a celebrity partner, much to the upset of fans of the BBC One dance contest.

He was, however, still very much been part of Strictly's 20th-anniversary series, partaking in the group numbers and performing during the musical acts who appear during the weekly results shows.

He was also spotted supporting his fellow Strictly stars in the 'Claudatorium' each Saturday night with the show's co-host Claudia Winkleman.

But after missing out on a celebrity partner during the hit dance show's 20th anniversary series, the dancer took part in the Strictly Come Dancing Live 2025 tour where he was seen back doing what he does best.

It has since been confirmed that he will be returning to the ballroom later this year after the professional dancer line-up 2025 was revealed back in April.

For the upcoming series, Kai, Dianne Buswell, Nadiya Bychkova, Amy Dowden, Karen Hauer, Katya Jones, Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, Gorka Marquez and Luba Mushtuk will take to the floor once more.

They'll also be joined by Jowita Przystal, Johannes Radebe, Aljaž Škorjanec, Nancy Xu, Carlos Gu, Lauren Oakley, Michelle Tsiakkas and Vito Coppola.

While touring the country with his own headline show, Evolution, across May and June, Kai was quized by ITV Anglia who his dream partner would be, to which he replied: "Well, I've always said this and I did mention this to Angela Rippon [his 2023 partner] and she bellowed with laughter...

"I've always said my dream celebrity partner, purely because I'd have an eight-pack from laughing so much, would be Miriam Margolyes. So Miriam, if you're watching, give me a call."
