In a somewhat surprising move this past June, the Vegas Golden Knights traded former NHL All-Star goaltender Logan Thompson to the Washington Capitals.

As we approach the end of August and NHL training camps on the horizon, many NHL players have started to filter back into their NHL home cities for informal skates. One of those players is Logan Thompson. The former Knight goaltender is in DC and has been on the ice with his new teammates. As shown by The Hockey News' Sammi Silber in this photo is Thompson displaying his new Capitals themed goalie set-up.

It appears as though Thompson is wearing custom pro version of the Bauer Vapor Hyperlite 2 pads with a stars and stripes themed pattern. Thompson had previously used the Bauer Supreme Mach series pads during his tenure in Vegas, with various different patterns and colors along the way.

Thompson will be battling with teammate Charlie Lindgren for the starting role in DC. Lindgen, 30, overtook the crease from Darcy Kuemper last season, going 25-16-7 and leading the Capitals to a playoff berth. Thompson and Lindgren will form an unusual right-hand catching goalie duo.

The Golden Knights filled the hole left by Thompson with former Capital Ilya Samsonov to backup starter Adin Hill.

Thompson ends his career in Vegas with appearing in 103 games, posting a win-loss record of 56-32-11. His 56 wins rank 2nd in team history as well as shutouts(5).
