Farewell to a Legend: Boxing Community Mourns Passing of Fighter Who Surpassed Mike Tyson at Age 35 trucc

Paul Bamba developed a penchant for knockouts. One could always expect him to land a devastating blow and end the fight with a knockout. Besides this, the American boxer had the quality to bounce back strongly, as he overcame initial hiccups in his boxing career and went on a 14-fight win streak, all coming this year and all ending with a knockout. In this process, he also bagged the WBA cruiserweight title as he defeated Rogelio Medina Luna on December 21. His record of 14 KO wins in a calendar year helped him surpass Mike Tyson, who had bagged 13 KO wins in 1986.

But the boxer’s promoter, Ne-Yo, confirmed that he took his last breath on Friday at the age of 35. In an official statement put on by his family and the singer, they confirmed Baba’s death. The statement read, “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of beloved son, brother, friend and boxing champion Paul Bamba, whose light and love touched countless lives.”

“He was a fierce yet confident competitor with an unrelenting ambition to achieve greatness. But more than anything, he was a tremendous individual that inspired many with his exceptional drive and determination.”

However, his cause of death is not known as of now. This saddening news swept the boxing world with sorrow as they took to the comment section of the post and sent their prayers to Bamba.

The boxing world mourns the passing of Paul Bamba

Idris Virgo commented, “RIP PAUL.” Bamba had also signed with Misfits last year, where he fostered many close friendships and impacted whomever he met. Bamba was even close to fighting Tommy Fury in 2022 because of his growing stature, but their fight couldn’t go through because of weight issues.

Swarmz wrote, “Rip to a humble hardworking down to earth man💔.” Bamba’s kindness and his behavior separated him from the rest. Even Nakisa Bidarian had similar sentiments towards Bamba, who even remembered their conversation about Jake Paul back in 2022 and his kind words towards him.

Salt Papi penned, “RIP champ 🙏🏾💔.” The fans will remember his accomplishments and knockout power, as he had a KO ratio of 94.74%.

LeVeon Bell declared, “really unbelievable .. rest easy champ 🕊️” The two had shared an undercard last year in April, where he took on JMX, where Bamba fought Chris Avila. This was the last fight that Bamba lost before going on the 14-fight win streak.

Lastly, a comment pointed out the recent success of Bamba. The comment read, “R.I.P. he was just made champ too.” Bamba had signed with Ne-Yo shortly before his last fight, where he bagged the WBA cruiserweight gold and expressed his excitement for what was to come next.

We send our thoughts and prayers to the Bamba family in these trying times.
