Things between Erika Jayne and Garcelle Beauvais are frosty, to say the least.
“Were you heartbroken when Garcelle unfollowed you?” Teddi Mellencamp asked Erika, 53, during the Wednesday, April 23, episode of their iHeartRadio “Diamonds in the Rough” podcast.
“Devastated,” Erika replied in her classic drawl. Teddi, 43, started laughing.
“I’m about as heartbroken as she was when I unfollowed her back,” she added. Teddi replied, “Oh, damn. Now I need to do my first unfollow.”
There has been tension between Garcelle, 58, and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills ladies since the season 14 reunion, which aired its third and final part earlier this month. Garcelle walked off the reunion set after the Bravo stars finished filming and refused to take part in the full cast photo. (The cast filmed the reunion back in February.)
During the reunion, Erika took a shot at Garcelle’s personal life, implying she doesn’t put it all on camera.
“We want to know who you’re dating, girl,” Erika said, noting that Garcelle doesn’t give any “juicy scoop” on the show.
Garcelle felt as though she and Erika were in a better place as friends — but not with comments like this.
“I wish you were more interesting, I guess,” Erika added. Garcelle replied, “Well, that’s a s***ty thing to say, Erika.”
Garcelle announced her plans to leave RHOBH after five seasons in an Instagram video late last month.
“Hey, guys, so I have some news. I’ve decided to leave Beverly Hills,” she shared. “It’s been a wild ride. I mean, some amazing things have happened, and some hard things have also happened, but it’s been a ride nevertheless.”
The actress explained that her 17-year-old twin sons Jaid and Jax starting their senior year of high school was a major factor in her decision along with upcoming projects that she’s developing.
“I just want to say thank you to Andy Cohen, to Bravo, NBCUniversal, Evolution, 32 Flavors, the producers, the crew and, of course, the ladies,” Garcelle concluded, noting that she “might pop in sometime” in the near future.
Some of the RHOBH ladies have since reacted to Garcelle’s news. Erika, for one, said she wasn’t surprised.
“We’ve known that she’s quit for two weeks. We knew this,” she said during a March 26 appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. “She did not take the cast photo with us [at the reunion], which is a clear indication that, ‘I am leaving.’”
Sutton Stracke — Garcelle’s longtime friend and RHOBH confidant — has since spoken to Us Weekly exclusively about the exit.
“I think we were all sort of in shock,” she shared at the Us + Maidenform’s Reality Star Style Awards party on Tuesday, April 22. “But Garcelle is a very strong woman so she’s going to make her decision and do what she’s going to do. I just want her to live her best life and be happy.”
