Denise Welch hits back as she's branded a 'compulsive cheat' by Janet Street Porter trucc

The Loose Women panellists opened up about their cheating pasts following bombshells seen in Monday's night Love Island.

Loose Women star Denise Welch was quick to hit back at her co-star Janet Street Porter on the show today as the panel discussed whether or not you'd judge somebody if they had cheated in the past. Kicking things off, Denise said she couldn't judge somebody as she had cheated in the past, which led to Janet to also admit she had done the same.

Denise shared: "Back in the day, I wouldn't no. If I was in that situation, I wouldn't have judged someone if they had possibly cheated. I always think that there's not excuses for things, but there are reasons for things."

The actress went on to say she was "more attracted to people who had a little bit of a past" as opposed to somebody who had only been with one other person. Straight after her admission, she questioned if that was a bad thing and and joked that she was "looking for approval" from the audience.

Continuing her thoughts, the 66-year-old said it would also depend on what you're looking for in somebody, whether that's a serious relationship or some fun. Sharing her thoughts, Janet began by saying: "Like Denise, I was a compulsive cheater..." but was swiftly interrupted by her co-star who wanted to set the record straight.

"I wasn't compulsive," Denise clarified, which prompted the audience to laugh. Janet went on to say: "Hardly a year went by without one thing leading to another. I don't judge people by their past, that's absolutely ridiculous, but I do think now, like Denise, I am of the wrong generation to give an opinion on this."

The journalist went on to say she knew of a friend whose date had been keen to have a relationship with her after just one date.

"I thought that was so odd," she added and went on to echo Denise's words about the circumstances of the situation.

Reflecting on her own experiences, Janet continued: "In my past, I kept things very simple. I met people and if I fancied them, we went to the next stage straight away and if it didn't work out, I never saw them again."

As the conversation unfolded, some viewers took issue with Janet joking about her past cheating.

One wrote: "I hate the way Janet trivialises her adultery #LooseWomen."

"#loosewomen yayyy more of Janet’s cheating stories," a second added alongside a sleeping face emoji.

Another hit out at both her and Denise about their admissions and branded the pair a rude word.

The latest episode comes after Stacey Solomon and Denise clashed over their different views on working from home.

As part of the debate aired on Monay, Stacey stressed that jobs being remote with flexible hours for working families had made life easier, particularly for those with children, while Denise said she felt as though there wasn't enough staff available now and claimed the country is "grinding to a halt".

The latter ranted: "We haven't got the staff, where are the staff? They've disappeared!" Stacey replied: "They don't disappear because they're working from home," to which Denise then asked: "But, where are they Stace?"

Stacey went on to say she believed people are happier to work from home these days, due to the likes of nurses not being looked after or paid properly.

The Sort Your Life Out star also said she thinks the Covid pandemic proved that people can do an "adequate if not better job" from the comfort of their homes, as opposed to being in a working environment, to which Denise disagreed.

"I don't think working from home has made people lazy," Stacey continued.

"You think Covid has benefited a lot of things, I think Covid has ruined a lot of things," Denise chimed in, adding: "I do think there's been a shift in work ethic."

Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV and ITVX.
