Danny Amendola went to the "Danger Zone" with a "Top Gun"-inspired dance on last night's episode of "Dancing with the Stars."

The former New England Patriots wide receiver danced in the show's second round of competition last night after there was no elimination during last week's premiere.

This week, the stars each performed to a song from a popular Hollywood film for the show's Oscars Night.

Amendola and his pro partner Witney Carson danced a jive to a hit from "Top Gun," and he honored his late grandfather, who was a veteran, with the dance.

The two-time Super Bowl champion said the movie reminds him of his late grandfather, who served in the military.

"This movie is near and dear to my heart," Amendola said. "When I saw the original at my grandfather's house, he was in the military. He fought in World War II."

"If the football thing didn't work out, I was gonna go to the military," Amendola added. "I have huge respect for those guys."

After his dance, the former wide receiver said he thought his grandfather would approve of the performance.

"He definitely would have thought we were in the 'Danger Zone' for sure," Amendola said.

How did Danny Amendola score on 'DWTS' last night?

Danny Amendola scored a 21/30 for his jive on "Dancing with the Stars" last night, earning sevens out of ten from all three judges.

Combined with his first week scores, Amendola's total for both nights was 41/60. He placed fifth overall among the other stars.

Who got eliminated on 'DWTS' last night?

Last night's episode of "Dancing with the Stars" ended with a double elimination, and former scammer Anna Delvey and actress Tori Spelling were sent home.

The elimination was decided by a combination of the first two week's judges scores as well as viewer voting.

"Dancing with the Stars" airs on Tuesday nights live on ABC and Disney+. It is also available for next-day streaming on Hulu.

There won't be a new episode next week, so two episodes will air the following week: on Monday, Oct. 7 at 8 p.m. EST and Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 8 p.m. EST.

Who is Danny Amendola?

Danny Amendola is a retired NFL wide receiver who played for 13 seasons, including for the New England Patriots for five. He won two Super Bowls with the team.

He also played for the Miami Dolphins, Detroit Lions and Houston Texans before announcing his retirement in 2022.

Since retiring from the NFL, the 38-year-old was a coaching assistant for the Las Vegas Raiders for one season. He also appeared on the military training show "Special Forces: World's Toughest Test" in 2023.

He is originally from The Woodlands, Texas and graduated from Texas Tech.
