Danny Amendola is OK with being the underdog on 'Dancing with the Stars' semifinals trucc

Danny Amendola could soon be adding a mirrorball trophy win to his resume after advancing to the finale on "Dancing with the Stars."

The two-time Super Bowl champion and former New England Patriots wide receiver danced in the show's eighth round of competition last night.

For Tuesday's show, each star performed two routines to styles they had not done yet, including one Latin-style dance and one ballroom style dance.

For their first dance, Amendola and his pro partner Witney Carson danced a Viennese waltz, and their second dance was a salsa.

Before finding out he would be advancing to the show's finale, Amendola said his competitive side was coming out for the semifinals.

"Each week, it feels like we're assigned the impossible," Amendola said. "And by the end of the week the impossible feels obtainable. So now that we're in the semifinals my competitive nature is coming out. So it's time to crank this up."

He also acknowledged that some people may see him as the underdog at this point in the competition.

"I think it's fair that I'm seen as the underdog — I have no dance experience," Amendola said. "I love that title because I get to prove people wrong."

Here's how he did.
