Danny Amendola and Witney Carson Share Inspiring Story Behind Barbie Dance on DWTS trucc

Dancing With the Stars pair Danny Amendola and Witney Carson shared the inspiration behind their Barbie-themed freestyle dance after placing fifth in the show’s finale.

He’s just Ken living in a Barbie world.

Danny Amendola may not have taken home the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy during the Nov. 26 finale of Dancing With the Stars, but the NFL star didn’t hold back as he played Ken during his final freestyle dance with his partner Witney Carson.

“It was her brilliant idea,” Danny exclusively told E! News of the Barbie-themed dance. “I just leaned into it, gave it my best shot. It was fun to portray an amazing film, and she nailed it, so it was awesome.”

And indeed, the athlete fully embodied Ryan Gosling’s Ken for the character opposite Witney as Margot Robbie’s Barbie, running around the stage shirtless in a fur coat.

“I made it so far, farther than I ever could imagine, honestly,” Danny, who placed fifth in the finale, shared. “I got better at dancing, and I got a great friend out of the deal.”

And Witney also cherished the journey, adding, “I learned a lot from Danny, just hard work and dedication. That’s been our two main words this season, but they really have shown what great improvement he’s had.”

The pair lost out to Olympian Stephen Nedoroscik and Rylee Arnold, who placed fourth; actress Chandler Kinney and Brandon Armstrong, who got third; Olympian Ilona Maher and Alan Bersten, who ranked second and Bachelor star Joey Graziadei and pro partner Jenna Johnson, who took home the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy.

But Danny had another standout moment from the finale, when he hit on host Julianne Hough from the bed of his Mojo Dojo Casa House.

"How is it dancing as Ken?" Julianne asked, prompting Danny to respond, "I think the real question, Julianne, is why are you in my bed?"

Witney looked away, saying, "Oh," while Julianne answered his flirtation more directly. "Oh, is that an invitation?" she said, before laughing. "Let's get your scores!"

Flirtation aside, there have been lots of couples to come out their time on DWTS. For more, read on.
