Even Dancing With The Stars producers can't control the weather.
Fans of the dance competition show in Buffalo, NY were disappointed on Wednesday, January 22 when they learned the live tour performance would be "postponed," an hour before the performance was set to begin. This is the second show to be cancelled on the tour.
An Instagram post on the official 'Dancing With The Stars Tour' account announced that "Due to the Mayor of Buffalo declaring a state of emergency with the ongoing lake effect snow storm, tonight's show at Shea's has been postponed."
Fans and ticket holders quickly took to the comments to express their feelings about this change. Many agreed that the severity of the weather warranted the postponement. "Was a bit nervous about driving there tonight but I'm still bummed! Hopefully we can make the rescheduled date! 🤞🏼" wrote one fan. "Im so sad! But understand this decision. It's a cold one today!" added another. "The safety of the crew, cast, and audience takes priority. It was the right call."
Others were less understanding about the timing of the announcement, noting that they had already traveled in order to make it to the show. "wow we were already parked and ready to come in :(" said one disappointed fan. "I called at 12:30 to make sure it was still on, but yet at 4 it's not anymore. Cmon people you should've cancelled way ahead of time," said another.
Several commenters noted that a scheduled performance in Richmond, VA on January 9 had yet to be rescheduled after it was cancelled due to water service issues. "What about Richmond?" asked one frustrated user. "Please please please reschedule Richmond!!!!!" begged another, while a third commenter took an almost threatening tone. "If this show gets rescheduled before Richmond........" they wrote.
The Instagram announcement did not provide my information about a new date for the show, reading, "New information about this show will be provided to ticket purchasers via the official ticket provider and venue channels once it is available."
Several Instagram users mentioned a recent show in Lancaster, PA that was not cancelled despite intense snow, saying that perhaps it should have been. "This is what kept me from the show in Lancaster. We couldn't safely get to the show and [...] since the show still happened, we can't reschedule 😭."
One commenter summed up the comments with a broader suggestion, writing, "Maybe it's time to reconsider the timing of the DWTS live tour ... not in the dead of winter. 🤷♀️"
