The gold medal-winning Olympian gymnast has swapped the pommel horse for the dance floor in this season of RTÉ's hit dancing show.
Rhys and his pro partner Laura Nolan danced a cheeky Cha Cha Cha to Treasure by Bruno Mars tonight.
The dancing duo had topped the show's leaderboard for the last two nights, leaving judges and viewers alike to have a high standard for the Olympian's dancing abilities.
Rhys impressed viewers at home and in the studio as he managed to pack in a back flip during his dance.
Coming off the dance floor, the pair looked impressed with their dance but were left muddled by the judges' reaction.
Karen Byrne said: "I feel like the snake hips were out in full force throughout that whole routine; I was like, 'Woah, look at those hips go!'
"You can really see the work that you have done on the technique within the Cha Cha and I know some people avoid it because it is quite difficult. You have it going on, you have the hips, I just would have liked more hips and more work within your legs.
"Overall it was a nice change to see you like smiling and having a nice chemistry together after a serious tango last week."
Loraine Barry added: "You have a code of discipline that I admire, you are authentic to the dance and the steps and I would like to see the likes tracking just a bit more. For me the back flip, I've seen it. Doesn't need it in the Cha Cha Cha."
Arthur Gourounlian contested Lorraine's view: "I disagree with Lorraine. The back flip was amazing. It was juicy. To me, dancing is the language of expression. Overall, that was a polished Cha Cha Cha, and you are a showman."
Brian Redmond finished the comments with: "I'm just glad I'm not involved in the disagreements for once. Rhys Mr Consistent you did a really good job with what is just a technical dance. and there's no doubt about it you are doing well.
"But you are surrounded by bright shiny diamonds all over the dance floor and you are definitely ice cool. But I just want that little bit more."
Jennifer Zamparelli then joked: "They are really very greedy judges tonight."
Ultimately, Rhys got a final score from the judges of 30, with 7s from Brian and Lorraine and two 8s from Arthur and Karen.
RTÉ viewers also seemed to be left divided over Rhys's performance and took to social media to express their thoughts.
One viewer tweeted: "Not his best but still, he's a natural."
Niall said: "Shame Rhys didn’t show off his chest this week! But twinkle toes - not a fan of the song choice."
Another said: "Another week that Rhys slays it! He's 100% winning this series!"
