Some viewers of the reality series are calling the latest twist 'unfair' as the show introduces a new feature as the final week gets underway
One Big Brother housemate faces a back-door eviction in tonight's episode (November 11) but fans have slammed the decision as 'unfair'.
Viewers are already unhappy in anticipation of the latest twist, with one contestant also given the opportunity to nab £10,000 from the prize fund. The latest twist in the reality series comes as the final week gets underway, reports the Mirror.
Unveiled during Sunday night's (November 10) instalment of the companion show Late and Live, four housemates will step into Big Brother's vault in Monday's episode. One participant will have the power to select the three who join them, but one of them won't be coming back.
A statement released by the official X account stated: "Today four Housemates entered Big Brother 's vault, but only three made it out..
"One Housemate drew a lucky pound sign card, gaining the power to pick three others to join them in the vault. But there's a catch, the chosen Housemate with the fewest public votes won't be returning!
"In a final twist, the lucky cardholder received two £5k bundles to place in front of the Housemate or Housemates they believe are safe. If they guess correctly, they retain the money."
Following last week's shock double eviction of Lily and Khaled, remaining housemates who may have drawn the pound card include Ali, Hanah, Baked Potato, Marcello, Emma, Thomas, Segun, Nathan, and Sarah. Only six of these will reach Friday's final, suggesting there could be another unexpected eviction following tonight's episode.
Not all viewers are thrilled with Big Brother's latest antics, resulting in calls for a revamped format to sidestep 'horrific twists'.
A viewer voiced their dissatisfaction on social media: "Please just start the series 3 weeks earlier next year and do more double evictions so we don't have to deal with horrific twists like this in the final week. Oh, and don't call it a 'vote to win' if you're not going to evict the person with the least overall votes."
Another commented: "You guys need a serious rethink before next year because this is a damn mess."
One spectator argued that the new flash eviction clashed with the integrity of the competition, claiming that fans hadn't been properly informed about the stakes of their voting.
They even offered a hypothetical scenario: "Big Brother vault example: Sarah (9th) picks the envelope, chooses Ali (1st), Hanah (2nd) and Emma (3rd). Emma gets evicted, Sarah stays and has a chance of winning 10K! How is this fair?".
A key fan page even suggested penalising Big Brother for flouting 'rules of fandom', posting: "Two fundamental rules of the fandom broken in one episode: 1. Messing with the prize fund in a gimmicky way. 2. Disregarding the public's vote. What do you think Big Brother's punishment should be?".
Big Brother continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX
