Chase Priskie is joining a few other recent Calder Cup champions in the KHL next season.
Sibir Novosibirsk announced Friday morning that they have signed the 29-year-old defender to a one-year contract for the 2025-26 season. Priskie became an unrestricted free agent on July 1 after the Minnesota Wild, who acquired his rights from the Washington Capitals at the 2025 NHL Draft, decided not to ink him to a deal.
Priskie, a 2016 sixth-round pick by the Capitals, rejoined the organization during the 2023 offseason. He signed two separate one-year contracts with the Caps, becoming an integral part of the Hershey Bears’ blueline in the AHL. In 130 games for the Bears, Priskie recorded 69 points (20g, 49a).
The Quinnipiac University standout was part of the 2024 Bears team that successfully defended their AHL championship title. Priskie was the club’s highest-scoring defenseman in the postseason, notching 14 points (2g, 12a) in 20 games.
Priskie made his NHL debut with the Florida Panthers during the 2021-22 campaign, skating in four games. He played most of that year in the AHL with the Charlotte Checkers and will be reunited with a Checkers teammate, Scott Wilson, in Siberia. Priskie, Wilson, Louis Domingue, David Farrance, and Fyodor Gordeyev are the lone North Americans on the club’s roster.
Other recent Bears to make the jump overseas to Russia include Pierrick Dubé, Logan Day, Zach Fucale, and Sam Anas.
The Bears have already seen some of their depth on the backend restored this summer, with the Capitals signing defensemen Louie Belpedio and Calle Rosen, and Hershey re-signing Nicky Leivermann and Jon McDonald.
