Washington Capitals star Tom Wilson is turning up the intensity in his offseason training, adding a bit of kickboxing flair to his regimen. The 31-year-old forward has been working on his left and right hooks with Spanish National Kickboxing champion and MMA coach Jorge Blanco during sessions in Toronto.

Wilson, known for his physical presence on the ice, has been training at Paragenix Systems under the guidance of longtime trainer Matt Nichol, where he typically spends his offseasons. This added focus on combat training could give him an extra edge as he prepares for his return to D.C.

It’s been a productive and eventful summer for Wilson. He balanced his rigorous training schedule with some much-needed downtime, vacationing with his family and attending a beach volleyball tournament with his wife, Taylor Pischke, a professional volleyball player. Adding to his accomplishments, Wilson earned an invite to Team Canada's orientation camp, marking an important step toward potentially representing his country at the Winter Olympics in Milan.

Wilson is entering the new season on the heels of a career-best year. In 81 games with the Capitals, he tallied an impressive 33 goals and 32 assists, totaling 65 points. With his renewed focus on training and a standout season behind him, Wilson looks poised to make an even bigger impact on the ice.

As he continues to refine his skills and prepare for the upcoming season, Capitals fans have plenty to be excited about. Wilson’s commitment to his craft, both on and off the ice, signals that the best may still be yet to come.
