“It’s back, babes,” captain Alex Ovechkin announced proudly on Tuesday, holding up the Washington Capitals’ black Screamin’ Eagle jersey that they will wear for the upcoming season.

The Capitals are officially bringing back the Reverse Retro sweater they donned in 2022-23 as a third jersey for 2024-25, which marks the franchise’s 50th anniversary. Washington will don the jersey on six dates this upcoming season:

Wednesday, Nov. 6th vs. Nashville Predators
Friday, Nov. 29th vs. New York Islanders
Tuesday, Dec. 31st vs. Boston Bruins
Saturday, Jan. 18th vs. Pittsburgh Penguins
Saturday, Feb. 1st vs. Winnipeg Jets
Sunday, April 13th vs. Columbus Blue Jackets

Washington’s third jersey features the Caesar Sportsbook and captain’s patch on the right side, and no 50th anniversary patch. The Capitol building with two crossed hockey sticks will be displayed on the shoulder.

In 2022-23, when D.C. wore these third jerseys, Ovechkin scored in every game they were worn.

The Capitals' third jersey is reminiscent of the team's 1995 sweaters and combines the first-ever third jersey and team's original rebrand.

Fans can purchase the jerseys starting on Oct. 10 at NHLShop.com, NHLShop.ca and shop.moumentalsportsnetwork.com, as well as in person at the MedStar Capitals Iceplex store and Capital One Arena Team Store.
