25 royal family photos taken by Kate Middleton liennhi

Cameras are often pointed at Catherine, Princess of Wales, but posing for them isn’t her passion.

Instead, she has a love of being on the other side of the lens, using her skills as a photographer and her access as a member of Britain’s most famous family to give royal watchers a glimpse at life away from the pomp and circumstance.

Over the years, the former Kate Middleton has taken and shared dozens of images, including shots of husband Prince William, their trio of children, King Charles III and even some of the senior royals who aren’t with us any longer.

Take a closer look at some of our favorite snapshots ahead.

2024

The Princess of Wales posted this playful photo of Prince William frolicking beachside with Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis and Prince George to mark the patriarch’s 42nd birthday on June 21.

Five days earlier, she marked another special occasion for her husband — Father’s Day — with another beach pic featuring William and the kids.

The mother of three shared this beaming photo of Princess Charlotte on May 2, her daughter’s ninth birthday.

On April 23, Catherine gave royal followers a new look at 6-year-old Prince Louis to celebrate his big day.

2022

Though this photo of Queen Elizabeth II, surrounded by some of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, appeared on Instagram in April of 2023, it was actually taken in the summer of 2022 at the late monarch’s beloved Balmoral residence.

Future king Prince George offered up a big grin in this photo posted on July 21, his ninth birthday.

When Princess Charlotte turned 7, her mom made sure one of the birthday pics also featured the family’s then-new pup, Orla.

Prince Louis looked like he could hardly contain himself in the beach birthday photos Catherine took when he turned 4.

2021

Another birthday, another smiling shot of Prince George.

As Britain mourned the loss of the Duke of Edinburgh in April of 2021, Mike Tindall, the duke’s grandson-in-law, posted this photo, taken by Catherine, of the late royal sitting alongside his great-granddaughter Mia Tindall.

2020

The royals, like most people, spent a large part of 2020 in lockdown, but Kate made sure the public still had a chance to see the family. Charlotte’s fifth birthday photo was among the images she took that year.

King Charles, still a prince at the time, could be seen cuddling up close to grandson and birthday boy Louis in a black-and-white photo taken by Kate and posted to the Clarence House Instagram account.

Louis showed off rainbow-painted hands in a photo that marked his second birthday.

The only thing missing from this lively family photo was the woman behind the camera.

2019

Catherine captured this photo of William in the Hindu Kush mountain range during the couple’s October 2019 tour of the region.

A giggling Prince George was pictured in the garden of Kensington Palace in his sixth birthday photo.

Charles and William shared a tender moment in this rare, relaxed Father’s Day pic of the pair.

This shot from Charlotte’s fourth birthday showed her enjoying the country life outside the family’s Norfolk home.

2018

Fashionable Princess Charlotte looked picture perfect in this photo from her first day of nursery school.

That same year, Charlotte gave little brother Louis a kiss on the head as they posed together on her third birthday.

The Queen and Prince Philip sat down with seven of their great-grandchildren in this photo taken at Balmoral Castle.

2017

The camera loves Princess Charlotte, as her second birthday photo proved.

2016

George sported an all-blue ensemble for his first day of nursery school in 2016.

2015

This picture is another that was shared after Prince Philip’s death in 2021, but Kate took the photo of him and a young Prince George six years earlier.

Big brother George held his newborn sister in this adorable 2015 photo.
