EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick, who plays Jay Brown in the BBC soap, will be performing the rumba to "Ain't No Sunshine", alongside pro partner Michelle Tsiakkas.

However, viewers are convinced they'll have a tough task ahead.

Taking to Reddit, one wrote: "Jamie and Rumba Week 2 are they setting him up for a failure they do have a great song though."

Another commented: "Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but I feel like they’re preparing him for an underdog storyline.

"Because people are criticising him for just winning the Xmas special, they can start him off with more challenging dances/judges criticisms that mean he can then have more of a journey.

"Like we all know he’s a good dancer and that’s fresh in our minds, so they’re easing us in."

While a third chimed in: "I know they like to have variety in the dances but there are some styles that shouldn't be danced until the latter half of the season.

"Being given a rumba in week 2 is very unfair.

"Not only is it technically challenging but expecting the [celeb] to feel comfortable enough to execute a great rumba with their partner is unrealistic."

It comes as the actor shut down any potential speculation that he and Michelle could succumb to the infamous "Strictly curse".

He told The Mirror: “The idea of that whole Strictly curse, well it’s definitely not going to be a thing here because it would be weird doing that with my sister.

“Michelle and I met before Strictly and we instantly had a connection. But she is like a sister, an aunt, a mum, a best friend.

"She’s looking after me, she’s mothering me.”

Jamie won the show's Christmas special last year, meaning he's no stranger to the dance floor.

That time around, he was partnered with Nancy Xu as they achieved the maximum score of 40 for their Quickstep.

A reunion was not on the cards, however, as Nancy is instead partnering Shayne Ward on the current series.

Viewers will be watching in anticipation to see who ultimately lifts the coveted Glitterball trophy.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One and is available on iPlayer.
