Washington Capitals Unveil Exciting 2025 Development Camp Schedule: A Sneak Peek at the Future of Hockey trucc

The Washington Capitals have begun preparations for this year’s Development Camp with the NHL Draft set to conclude on Saturday, June 28.

The team revealed the camp schedule in their media guide for the draft, which was released on Tuesday.

Capitals prospects, both newly selected and from past drafts and signings, will converge on MedStar Capitals Iceplex the same day that NHL free agency is set to open, Tuesday, July 1.

The camp will last for five days, concluding with the annual 3-on-3 tournament on Saturday, July 5.

2025 Capitals Development Camp Schedule:

 

Tuesday, July 1
2:30 – 3:30 pm: Skating Development (Caps rink); Goalie Ice (Public rink)
3:30 pm: Media availability

Wednesday, July 2
9:15 – 10:00 am: Skating Development (Forwards, Public rink)
9:30 – 10:15 am: Positional Play (Defensemen, Caps rink)
10:15 – 11:00 am: Skating Development (Defensemen, Public rink)
10:30 – 11:15 am: Positional Play (Forwards, Caps rink)
11:00 am: Media availability

Thursday, July 3
9:30 – 10:15 am: On-ice testing (Both rinks)
10:30 – 10:45 am: Goalie Ice (Public rink)
10:45 – 11:45 am: All Players (Both rinks)
11:45 am: Media availability
3:00 – 4:30 pm: Small Area games (Both rinks)
4:45 – 5:45 pm: Youth Hockey Clinic (Caps rink)

Friday, July 4
MedStar Capitals Iceplex closed to the public
8:30 – 9:00 am: Goalie Ice (Public rink)
9:15 – 11:00 am: Transition Work (Half group; Caps rink)
9:15 – 11:00 am: Skill Work (Half group; Public rink)

Saturday, July 5
8:30 – 9:00 am: Goalies (Public rink)
9:00 – 10:30 am: 3-on-3 Tournament (Caps rink)
Post-tournament Media availability

The team will reveal the complete list of invitees after the draft, but we do know that two college free agents, Ryan St. Louis and Daniel Russell, are expected to attend.

Capitals assistant general manager Ross Mahoney stated Tuesday that, as of right now, he doesn’t think 2023 first-round draft pick Ryan Leonard will be at the camp. Leonard finished the 2024-25 season with the Caps, playing a combined 17 games between the regular season and playoffs.
