Longtime "Dancing With the Stars" pro Val Chmerkovskiy has shared a bit of a season 33 prediction.
In an interview with Us Weekly, Chmerkovskiy said that he thinks the new cast will be filled with big name stars.
"When I think of a partner, I just want somebody that — after being on the show for 20 seasons now — I just want somebody that’s excited to be there," he told the outlet in an article published on April 17. "I’ve seen a lot of really incredible people and I’ve worked with a lot of really talented dynamic people. But it is from that excitement that I’m really inspired and now you have me really going the distance for you."
"I feel like season 33 really went viral. There were so many highlights. 'Dancing With the Stars' was huge and it is growing in popularity, which is crazy to say after 20 years of being on air. But with its reestablished popularity, I think we’re going to get a lot of really big names and I’m excited for that," he added.
Over the years, the show has had a few A-listers compete for the coveted Mirrorball Trophy — such as Zendaya, who was partnered with Chmerkovskiy on Season 16. Each season is generally a mix of athletes, reality television stars, and actors. More recently, production has been adding in some influencers — such as Charli D'Amelio, who won Season 31 alongside ballroom pro Mark Ballas.
Chmerkovskiy has won three Mirrorball trophies over the course of his time on the show, including his most recent on Season 32 alongside Xochitl Gomez. On Season 33, he got to pass the trophy on to his wife, Jenna Johnson, who took her partner — Bachelor star Joey Graziadei — to the finals.
"Speechless, proud, grateful…. Jenna & Joey," Chmerkovskiy, who shares 2-year-old son Rome with Johnson, captioned an Instagram video of the finale.
The new season of Dancing With the Stars will likely premiere sometime in September 2025. The show has yet to be officially renewed by ABC, but Craig Erwich, President of the Disney Television Group, all but guaranteed that the show will return in the fall.
"We’ll have news to share soon," he told Variety earlier this month.
