Despite the teaser trailer, Junaid and Joe appear to be closer than ever
It's official official, TOWIE fans. After three long years, show bosses have finally green-lit another TOWIE Christmas special and if our social sleuthing is accurate, the cast are filming it this week.
While the news was technically broken by certain members of the cast and not ITV, the teaser trailer confirming that Junaid Ahmed and Joe Blackman had split suggested there was more of this story to tell – and no doubt we'll get the answers we crave in the coming weeks.
We better, tbh, because what we're seeing on the show and what we're seeing on social media does not add up one bit.
While ITV has not confirmed filming dates for the Christmas special, Junaid has seemingly once again spilled the beans by revealing that Joe had just given him a haircut ahead of filming.
And if we know Junaid, he would want to look his freshest for filming, which means he would leave this to the absolute last minute. Which means that right now, TOWIE stars could be b*tching and/or snogging under mistletoe pretending it's Christmas Eve.
We're also seeing a lot of silver decorations in our mind's eye.
Junaid shared a fresher than fresh grid snap on Instagram earlier this week, captioning the post, 'TOWIE Christmas Special 🎥 I'm ready for ya,' to which Joe replied, 'I am just so good at my job 😍❤️❤️❤️.' Honestly, we don't know if Joe's talking about hairdressing or being a dramatic af reality star. Both maybe.
News of a Christmas special was confirmed earlier this month when Junaid took to his Instagram story to share that he was heading for a meeting with TOWIE bosses to discuss the festive episode. And let us tell you, Christmas came early in the Closer office that day.
Junaid shared a picture of himself in the car, following a recent romantic getaway to Ibiza with Joe, and captioned the snap, ‘Back to reality 😔 TOWIE Christmas special meetings 🎄.’
Given all the dramz that has taken place over the course of series 34, there’s some questions that we’re going to need answering come December, so listen up, TOWIE bigwigs.
Firstly, are Junaid and Joe in a relationship? They’ve just been having some fun in the sun on holiday recently, but Joe has been quite open about not wanting to jump straight into another relationship following his split from Harry. Then of course there was that teaser trailer which flat out confirmed they had split, and yet, they are NEVER apart on social media. So WHAT is going on?
A couple who definitely aren’t casual are Jordan Brook and Sophie Kasaei. The couple have been the subject of engagement rumours for a while now, so can we expect a festive proposal?
Diags and Jodie Wells are another Essex couple whose relationship has been under the spotlight after he asked her to move down to Essex with her son Bear. Jodie is yet to make the move, so will the Christmas special finally see her and Bear set up home with Diags?
Things are going well between them on series 34, which was filmed weeks before it airs, but Dan Edgar and Ella Rae Wise have just split, so will we get to see the fallout from their breakup at Christmas? We ruddy well hope so.
Another question we need answering is what’s going on between Courtney Green and her rarely seen boyfriend Callum Bushby? Court recently opened up about their ‘rocky path’ after she revealed they were taking time apart last series, but where do things stand now? Will he finally make his debut TOWIE appearance during the Christmas special?
Lastly, just what has Freddie Bentley done to earn himself the title of ‘Lord’? The new addition to the cast recently revealed he’s now going by Lord Freddie Bentley, but how did he get such an honour bestowed upon him? We must know immediately.
Rumours first began swirling that the TOWIE Christmas special would be making a comeback after a three-year break last month when a telly insider told The Sun, 'The latest series of TOWIE has been a huge hit and there has been a lot of drama. It made sense to bring back the Christmas special,' a source told the publication.
They added, 'It’s a movie length episode and fans can expect some real festive fun, romance and probably a few feuds.'
A movie length episode of TOWIE? Thanks, Santa.
When will the TOWIE Christmas special air?
While ITV bosses haven't confirmed anything yet, from looking at previous episodes we reckon it'll air on Sunday 22 December 2024.
Who will be on the TOWIE Christmas special?
We reckon the current cast will all take part in the festival special.
Our fingers are crossed that Amber Turner (who recently revealed why we'll be seeing less of her) and her new boyfriend will fly over from Dubai and Love Island 2023's Sammy Root will also make an appearance.
Then our toes are crossed that Frankie and Demi Sims will return for some festive dramz, after making their surprise return in the final episode
What will happen on the TOWIE Christmas special?
As well as wholesome vibes we've got a few predictions on what might happen...

Junaid Ahmed and Joe Blackman's relationship will still be the talk of the town
