The Chase Viewers Fume 'Completely Unacceptable' and 'Switch Off' After Player's Decision trucc

Wednesday's episode of The Chase saw a contestant make an unusual choice, which left viewers speechless.

The Chase viewers fumed, "This is completely unacceptable," as one player made a "shocking" decision.

On Wednesday's (February 5) episode of the ITV gameshow, Beth, Sarah, David, and Joe teamed up to take on a chaser in the hopes of winning a large sum of money.

28-year-old events manager Beth was first up to the table, earning just £2,000 in her cash builder. The Dark Destroyer, aka Shaun Wallace, tried to tempt her with a high offer of £30,000, but Beth chose to play it safe and pick the low offer of £200.

"It's a really hard decision, but I did come into it saying that if the low offer was positive, I would go for it to get back and bring my perspective to the final chase. So, I'm gonna go with £200," Beth explained to host Bradley Walsh.

"Absolutely, £1,800, that's it. The four of you get through, that's a loss of like £450 each - not a problem. It's a good choice," Bradley replied, with Shaun adding: "Quite right, yeah."

"I don't see a problem with that at all. It's crucial we get the first two players in the final, I mean it's crucial, because otherwise it pins the lads into a corner - or anyone sitting in three and four," Bradley continued.

However, the show's viewers quickly took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their disapproval of Beth's decision, with one writing: "£200 isn't even worth putting her white trainers on to go with her dress. Pathetic."

"I switched off the Chase because of the contestant taking the low offer," another added, while a third said: "No!!!!! £200 low offer taken by seat 1! I have had enough! Who is in charge of casting these contestants? This is completely unacceptable!"

A fourth fan echoed the sentiment: "The ones who accept the low offer should only be paid what they accepted if they get win, if it's a minus then nothing."

Meanwhile, other viewers defended Beth's choice after her low cash builder: "She didn't smash the cash builder at all, was awful. £200 was probably the right choice tbh."

Despite Beth's decision to take the low offer, she was soon caught by Shaun just before she made it home after getting consecutive questions wrong.

"Beth, I'm so sorry. That's tough," Bradley said upon her exit.

The Chase airs weekdays on ITV1 at 5pm
